I have Bernina 830 embroidery machine. I'm still a novice with this machine. An upper thread broke and could only be removed from the right side. I know that this is a NO NO but I had no choice. I r

I do remember that the left front panel can be removed when threading errors occur but when I use the tool provided I'm afraid to apply too much pressure.

Do you have a manual?
http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_sacat=0&_nkw=Bernina+830+manual&_sop=15

You may need some cleaning, oiling or maintenance?
Tips for cleaning and maintenance:

Oil the hook after having used the content of 3 to 4 bobbins. The machine
screen will display a reminder

Increasing noise of the motor and/or irregular
stitch formation can also be an indication that oiling is necessary

Remove any lint from the hook and the bobbin area, then remove the stitch plate

How to remove the top cover of Bernina 830. My machine keeps telling me to rethread. It stitches about 10 stitches then stops

Which Bernina 830 are you referring to? (Yeah, it was crazy of Bernina to use the same numbers to identify different models...). There is the old Bernina 830 Record and the new computerized Bernina 830.

Have you tried rethreading the machine? If so, be sure to ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot. Verify the thread path is correct.

My Bernini 830 would not recognize the embroidery attachment. I re-attached many times, but it doesn't work.

I assume you mean a Bernina 830. If you have removed the slide-on table, I have two possible solutions. I've seen this with a couple of Viking embroidery attachment units. (I am also assuming it's not a hoop issue.)

You could have corrosion on the pins that send the signals between the embroidery attachment and the sewing machine. Remove the embroidery attachment and turn off the sewing machine. Unplug the sewing machine. Spray the pins with an electronic contact cleaner; one example is here: http://www.homedepot.com/p/CRC-QD-11-oz-Contact-Cleaner-02130-6/202262505 . Push the embroidery attachment into the sewing machine by lifting up the far side and then sliding it into the port. Remove the embroidery attachment. Repeat this a few times. (The friction of the insertion and removal will remove any dirt or corrosion.) Plug in the sewing machine and turn it on. Try connecting the embroidery attachment. If it works, remember to clean the contacts the next time the embroidery attachment isn't recognized.

Once I helped someone with two sewing/embroidery machines with an unrecognized embroidery attachment. In that case, the person swapped which embroidery unit went with which machine. The contacts were not the same and didn't mate. Once the correct machine and embroidery unit were paired, the embroidery unit was recognized instantly.

I hope this helps. If it doesn't, you may need to talk to your Bernina repair technician at your local shop.

Bernina activa 130 tension loose after needle breaking into bobbin area

Is it the bobbin tension that is very loose? Try tightening it. Also check that the bobbin has been installed in the bobbin case, turning the correct direction and that the bobbin tension is threaded properly.

Bobbin Tension How and Why Tension is Adjusted

Understanding Bobbin Tension

Understanding Thread Tension Threads

If it is the upper tension that is loose and creating "thread nests" under the fabric, the machine is either misthreaded or possibly the thread is not seated completely in the tension disk.

Remove the upper thread from the machine.
ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot and rethread the upper thread from the beginning--verify the thread path is correct.
Set the upper tension to the midway point between high & low number (the factory standard--although it may need tweaking later for your particular machine).

Retest your machine. Hopefully, the issue has been resolved. If not, it may need service.

How do I enlarge decorative stitches on a Bernina 830?

The only way (that I'm aware of) to enlarge decorative stitches is by increasing the stitch width and the stitch length. You might try a thicker thread that will cover more. The only other way might be to use embroidery software.

Is it possible for me to get a free download of the Bernina 830 instruction manual?

When stitching the design the upper thread keeps

The tension is not properly set for embroidery, try to rethread totally new. Sometimes it is also caused by broken thread inside the machine, you can open it with the supplied L-shaped tool on the left side of the machine where the lamp is located and than take it out with a tweezer.

Old bernina 830 stitching problem: tight

Sounds like you need to adjust the tension. Probably a good idea to oil this older machine before you adjust. Also look for and clean out any lint or debris in bobbin case and around foot area.

Top color thread showing on bottom of embroidery on a Bernina Deco 330 embroidery machine

Upper tension is too loose or lower tension is too tight. This might be a good thing. It depends upon how much it is pulling the thread under. A perfect tension on embroidery is about 2/3's lower thread and 1/3 upper thread showing on the bottom.

Fabric doesn't Feed

I have a Janome, and when switching from embroidery back to sewing, I must touch a button that electronically moves the mode from embroidery to sewing. In some cases, I've also had to turn off the machine for a few minutes and then turn it on again.

I used to own a Viking - it had a little door covering the attachment link for the embroidery arm. If it wasn't perfectly shut, the machine wouldn't convert to sewing mode, regardless of what button I pushed.
