If the television has a USB socket, it is most likely it will play the contents of the USB stick. DIVX is a popular format to save movies in, and many TVs can play them.
Hi
Most recent laptops come with a port to connect to a TV, depending upon the input ports the TV has. The two most common are VGA and HDMI, and you will need to check which of these each item has. It is then simply a case of getting the appropriate cable to connect the two together, and then on the TV select the input from the menu, and on the laptop, make sure that the external video port is active (usually a Fnct and "F" key - eg Fnct + F5 for a Toshiba Satellite Pro U200).
Hope this is helpful, if so would you please register that with Fixya
Cheers
