I'm assuming it "starts" to heat but then cuts off. Usually after the first minute of running you can open dryer door and feel heat but after awhile it doesn't heat.

1st, most common problem on a gas dryer not heating is "airflow" . They will "short-cycle" if there isn't near perfect airflow. Turn dryer on and go to outside exhaust vent. It should blow about as hard as you can blow into your hand. If any doubt disconnect dryer vent line from wall and let blow into your laundry room for one cycle and see if it is now working correctly. If it does work correctly when vent line is disconnected at wall you KNOW there is blockage somewhere in your vent line.

2nd, most common problem are gas coils. Easy to replace. 99% of all gas coils are the same so here is the part# (WE04X10020) (write it down.

Wont stay lit so can dry

Bad gas solenoids which are located at the gas valve inside your dryer. Good luck.

Have a Maytag gas dryer, model#:LDG7314AAE, flame wont stay lit.

Clean/repair your dryer vent. The flame when it exits the funnel should not touch or just barely touch the funnel end. This indicates good airflow. A good test for the clogged/damaged vent is to disconnect the vent hose from the dryer and run it as is. If the flame stays - clean vent. If not - clean air path inside the dryer

Maytag gas dryer - model unknown - gas wont stay lit

Yes does sound like blockage in the exhaust vent causing the high limit switch to stop the dryer.
