Question about Olympus FE-120 Digital Camera

Coloured lines on picture screen

Olympus FE-120 less than 2 yrs old, hardly used. When switched on to take a picture I get a series of coloured (pink, purple etc.) vertical lines on the LCD screen and when I take a picture, the camera photographs the lines. When viewing previous images they are fine. Any suggestions anyone???

I have the exact issue with my Olympus FE-120 digital camera. I contacted Olympus. With parts and labor Olympus quoted me a price that is similar to buying a new camera.

I am thinking about buying a new camera, and it will NOT be an Olympus.

I have the same issue. Camera is around 2 years old. Seems like this is common. I guess I will be buying a non Olympus camera now.

My Olympus FE-120, 6.0 MegaPixel camera is less than 2 yrs. old. Paid full price, not cheap, and camera puts white vertical lines across photos. It occurs whenever and without warning, regardless of indoor, outdoor, flash, no flash, re-chargeable or regular AA batteries, batteries fully charged or not. It seems that one day camera works perfectly fine and the next, every pic taken has white vertical lines across, which can be seen in preview mode and picture is absolutely unuseable and can barely be recognized, so I just have to delete every picture taken that is like that and cannot use the camera for that occassion (until the camera decides to work properly again....whenever...) I love the camera, WHEN IT WORKS PROPERLY! Easy to transfer photos to computer, easy to print, nice quality pics, good colour (printer has bearing on those things too) I would really like to keep the camera but will it cost the same or more to fix it than to buy another camera? What is the cause for this issue, and will it keep happening? Frustrating when issue happens on special occassions and picture/moment in time can never be recaptured---and camera decides to bugger up! I would like answer from manufacturer, or help from someone who has experienced the same. My email:, Christmascarol.

2yr Olympus FE 120, Black horizontal lines in view & on image. The problem is intermittant & does not depend on flash setting or temp.????

I am using my SLR for now. I miss my camera. Was told probably a software issue.

My lg32lc56 LCD TV when switched on, the screen shows coloured lines only. No picture. What is the problem?

Lg is not a cheap brand. You could have a bad tcon board or a bad main digital board. If you see spider web lines then your screen is broken. As far as Japanese brands I've seen more Sony tv's with design flaws and produced with just crap parts than any other brand out there.

Olympus X-42 less than 2 yrs old, hardly used. When switched on to take a picture I get a series of coloured (pink, purple etc.) vertical lines on the LCD screen and when I take a picture, the camera...

If the lines are on the images when viewed on the computer then its likely that the cameras sensor is the problem. This is a tricky part to get to as its the heart of the system. Might be time to get a new camera as replacing the sensor will be far more expensive ($150-200+) than a new camera. I had a look on ebay and they are going for less than $50 as they are an old camera now.
Ive replaced my Olympus with a Sony Cybershot W830, 20mp and 8x zoom, direct from Sony for $150.

Cannon mv890 comcorder. Is now 5 years old. Haven't used for about 2 years. Would like to now sell it so I am testing it out. On playback coloured lines appear on screen obsuring half the picture....

This is usually caused by an oxidized, misaligned or defective Audio/Video drum. You can try running a cleaning tape through the camera. If this does not solve the problem the camera will need to be serviced by a qualified service technician.

My name is Rick and I'm a professional repair technician with over 20 years in the business and have repaired many of these. I'm semi retired and work from home with little overhead so I can keep repair costs low. If you decide to have the camera repaired, please click HERE for a directory listing that suits your needs.

If this response has been of any help to you, please be sure and give a positive vote for me on .

Coloured lines

This is a sign that your screen or your video card is going bad. to test which one you need to connect it to a second monitor and look for the lines. If there is lines on both it is your video card, if it is only on the laptop's screen then it is the screen.

This is most likely a convergence problem. You should see 2 large black ICs in side attached to a heatsink. They will be marked STK392-010. Try resoldering the pins on these ICs first. If that does not resolve the problem, replace them. These parts will be about $20 each.

If the Video (Picture/Pix) is gone but you can hear the Audio (sound), then it could mean the YSUS PCB Assembly is gone/kaput/finish. Can replace the PCB, not repair the PCB due to timing circuitry involve. Cost maybe roughly $500 depending where you located. The PCB is located on the left hand side of your TV when you are facing the back (Back open). Might find 3-4 brown flex membrane connecting to the plasma panel. The PCB has a silver or black aluminum heatsink (big) on it.
Good Luck.
