Software is done via Wifi using the smart hub button. Firmware is done via USB. I don't like the third party sites in this link, get it from Sinotec's website

So Amazon video doesn't work at all? If it does, I wouldn't worry about the update until Samsung pushes it as important. If Amazon video doesn't work without this *update* then I'd contact Samsung to ask what the deal is.
TV has to be connected to internet, then use your remote to go to setup. You will find, somewhere in the setup, a section that refers to network connection.
To clarify the issue, as we are having the same problem, when you go into the "smart"hub and select Netflix, the app gives a message that an update is needed. It says to go into Menu -> Support -> Update -> Online. However, the option to update is not available so Netflix is now unusable on the Samsung TV. I never have these issues with our AppleTV. If anyone discovers how to fix this, please let me know. I have already tried doing a factory reset to reload Netflix. It didn't work.
