Question about DISH Network 301 DTV Receiver

2 Answers

Dish DVR I'm not sure what model Dish PVR I have, although I've had it since January 2004 and it can record 100 hours of programming. I've gotten an alarming message that says, "A problem has been detected that requires re-initialization of the hard disk drive. This will erase all recorded programs." I did not press OK, but the message keeps showing up whenever I turn on the set. Needless to say the DVR does not work at all. Is there anyway to fix this without erasing my recorded programs? Thanks.

Re: Dish DVR

Unfortunately u cant avoid this cause if u have a pvr its an old receiver...unless this one can be connected to an external hard drive then you can save ur recordings...if not sorry but that receiver is gonna have to be replaced and yes your recordings will be lost due to the fact its hard drive failure

These answers should be in the instruction manual.
If you've not got one go to the manufacturer's website, enter Customer Support or Technical Support and you'll find usually easy steps to follow to get a free download.

Dvr is programmed but at times "chooses" not to record show and other times it does record

Be sure that a DVR timer is set to fire, instead of an auto tune. Also if it is a series then make sure you select new episodes, your dvr will not recor a program if it has already recorded the same program once, ( re run) you can also check your scehdule in your dvr to check if timer has been deleted or modified.

Doesn't stop recording

Make sure there is no time overlap on any of the programs you have on the recorder.

That is the most likely problem

I want to copy the programs recorded on my dvr 510.

According to engineering aspects of the 510 it is not designed to allow the recordings to be transferred. The only option you have is the option you mentioned or purchasing the 510 and having it incorporated into the new system so you can access them. I am sorry I did not have any better news for you. Thanks for using Fix Ya and if you need further assistance please let me know.

Can I record antenaTV on my Dish PVR-625

Officially, no you would not be able to since you no longer pay the $5.98 DVR fee which Dish charges for the DVR. Wish I could have given you better news. Thanks for using Fix Ya and let me know if I can further assist you.

Problem with DISH DVR 625

You can accomplish this by either going to the specific TV and selecting the record option at the time the program is about to come on or you can press menu-8-5 and change the record preferences. You can either set the DVR to record programs to the TV2 location by default or TV1 by enabling the record plus feature. In dual mode without record plus enabled all programs you select to record default to the tuner you are viewing e,g, if watching tv1 and selecting to record a program in the future it will record to the tv1 location. In single mode all recordings default to tv2 so you can continue to watch live tv from tv1. I hope this answers your question and thanks for using Fix Ya. Let me know if I can further assist you.

All recorded programs lost

when tech support says they've never heard of a problem like this they are either inexperienced or lying. there was most likely a small power surge that caused it to reset like that. if the problem persists, insist on a replacement reciever and consider getting a computer surge protector with a small battery back-up.
