Re: canon ink cartridges reset chip

Have not found a chip reset device, but there is this German device selling on ebay which seems to disable the whole chip mess. Do a Google search for this: CANON-PIXMA-CHIP-REVOLUTION. They have sold a lot of these and many people seem happy, but some people are not thrilled with it. I haven't tried it.

How do I reset my Epson T200XL ink cartridges?

Resetting the Epson Ink Cartridge Chip With Software A freeware program called SSC Service Utility enables users to download and install software that helps to manage their Epson printer. The software offers several functions, one of which is resetting the ink cartridge chip. Other settings allow users to freeze the internal ink counters or to reset the internal ink counters. It supports over 100 Epson printer models, but some printers may not respond to the commands from the software.
Using a Cartridge Reset Tool A cartridge reset tool is a small plastic piece that fits against the cartridge. The contacts on the reset tool correspond to the contacts on the printer's ink cartridge. When connected to the ink cartridge, the cartridge reset tool indicates the resetting of the ink cartridge with a green LED light. The reset tool is beneficial not just for resetting the chip, but also for allowing the printer to use all of the ink in the cartridge.

Troubleshooting Issues With the Reset Tool

Buyers should be sure to check the description for each reset tool carefully to determine whether they can reset their Epson printer cartridge with the tool. If the wrong cartridge is attempted or the reset tool is simply unable to reset the cartridge, users see either a red LED light or no light at all. In some cases, they simply cannot reset the chip any further. Before disposing of a reset tool, always test it on multiple ink cartridges.

Can you change the outter chip from one epson ink cartridge nx 415

Don't let your ink levels drop below 25% before refilling and resetting your cartridges. There is an inner and an outer chip on these cartridges. The inner chip disables the outer chip when it's contacts are no longer bathed in ink. So, it doesn't matter if you "reset" the outer chip after refilling your empty cartridge because the chip was disabled.
But the outer chip is not available in the market hence refilling has to be done before you have used 75% of the ink. Yes you can replace if and only if its not from a empty cartridge

Canon pixma ip2600 cartridge not installed properly

Please check if there is not some dirt, or something blocking the contacts from reading. Also the ink level is measured by optical sensor that can also be dirty. Also make sure you use an Original Canon cartridge. It could be the chip on the cartridge has either gone bad or could no longer be reset. The chip is what tells the printer that it is ok to print (i.e. there is ink available and that the cartridge is approved). Some chips will only be reset with available procedures a few times. Other times refillers are not succesful in resetting the chip or just give you another cartridge that is already refilled and could just happen to have a bad chip. You should probably return the cartridge and try to get one that will work based on the argument that refilling is not only related to ink but also to chip. Otherwise here is a web site that has a special page for your Pixma that contains all possible refill products: Source(s):

How to reset printer canon 8180

1.Attain an ink cartridge chip resetting device from a computer electronics retail store or an online retailer. These portable devices resets the cartridge chip so your printer recognizes the cartridge as being full.

2.Remove the cartridge from the printer by opening the top tray and taking the cartridge out of the carrier holder.

3.Line up the pins on the resetting device and the chip on the ink cartridge, then connect them together, making sure the connection is firm.

4.Hold the resetting device and ink cartridge chip in place, for about 10 seconds, until the LED light on the device turns green. This means the cartridge was successfully reset. Afterward, remove the device from the cartridge.

5.Place the cartridge back in the printer's ink cartridge carrier holder and print a test page.

I just got my ink cartridges refilled and when I put them in my computer says check ink UP051. Even when I took the ink out and tried restarting it, it gave me the same error message.

A number of printers simply will NOT work with "Refilled" ink cartridges. This is because some have a "Chip" inside them that will not allow this to be done. They want you to buy their ink.. and buy a new cartridge each time... SOME places that refill them are able to reset the chip. However "They" have us all by the "Goolies" and as much as you may hate it the best way is to buy a new recommended cartridges. Sux huh?

I dont know how to refill my canon ip2600 ink cartridge

Problem is resetting the IC chip that they install that calculates that your cartridge is empty, Refilling it doesn't work because the chip tells the printer that it'S empty. No way to reset it yet.

When refilling canon ip4500 cartridge they still show empty

I'm sorry you got that STUPID answer first. The Canon cartridges you use have a chip or small circuit board on the bottom front. You have to either reset that chip or get the reset chips from the place you get your ink. That little chip tells your printer how much ink has been used and once they are empty refilling doesn't help without a new or reset chip.

How does one rest ink chip on Canon Prixma MP 980?

I believe you have to press resume to get the non chipped carts to work.At this time there ar no resets available other than the resume.
You will void your warranty.
Call Canon and tell them the printer is not working and take advantage of your 1 year warranty and only use Canon inks from now on or until reset is available.
If you want you can mention that you USED non Canon ink.

Waste ink full

This step is a "reset" step for the Canon CLI8 cartridges. The original Canon CLI8 cartridges have a memory chip on the back of the cartridge, which sends a signal to the printer when the cartridge is empty. Your printer won't be able to determine how much ink is in the compatible cartridges, but you can easily monitor the ink level by noticing the ink level drop in the cartridge as you print (the cartridges are see-through), or by noticing low ink output on the printed pages when you run out of ink. The "reset" procedure below is the best procedure we know of to date to allow your printer to use Uni-Kit cartridges which offer a tremendous savings over the Original Canon products.

With the original chip now attached to the compatible cartridge (you may need double sided tape to get the chip to stick well to the cartridge), and with the cartridge now in the printer, Press and hold the Reset/OK Button for 5 seconds to reset the chips.

  1. The "Ink Low" dialog box will pop up (similar to photo 1 below)
  2. Continue to print until the "ink has run out" dialog box pops up (similar to photo 2 Below) Click "OK" to continue to print.
  3. The "Ink Low" dialog box may reappear, if so repeat the first 2 steps
  4. Then the "once empty" dialog box will pop up (similar to photo 3 Below) Click "Yes" to continue to print
  5. The "Not Liable" dialog box will pop up (similar to photo 4 below). Click "Yes" to continue to print
  6. Continue to print until the "remaining level of ink" dialog box pops up (similar to photo 5 Below) Click "OK" to continue to print
  7. Another dialog box will pop up with the "press and hold the Resume" or "press and hold the Paper Feed" button (similar to photo 6). Press and hold the "STOP/RESET" button (for Canon MP Series) or "PAPER FEED" button (for Canon IP Series) for 5 seconds. DO NOT Click "Back" or "Cancel Printing"
  8. The "Ink Monitor" dialog box will appear and the printer will continue to print. (similar to photo 7) In the event that that the "press and hold the Resume " dialog box pops up again, Press and hold the Paper Feed Button or Stop/Reset Button for 5 seconds
