Toilet handles are the easiest part of the toilet to replace. The nut that holds the handle in place has a backward thread on it though. The old adage "Righty tighty - Lefty loosey" does not work in this case. It is opposite! "Righty loosey - Lefty tighty".
Open the lid of your tank. Reach in and remove the chain that goes to the flapper. Now turn the nut that is on the back of the handle to the right. You may need plumbers pliers to get it started. After you remove the handle put in your new one that you have purchased at your favorite plumbing supply store. Hand tighten the new nut by turning it to the left. Using a wrench to tighten the nut may result in over tightening and cracking your toilet tank.

The handle fell off on the toilet and won't stay on. Is their an insert that my room mate lost.

You need to replace the handle. Most single-flush toilets have a handle that covers a plastic piece that includes a stem that goes through the bowl. The stem is functions as a bolt held by a plastic nut on the inside of the bowl. When the handle falls off, that stem has broken. If the bowl lid is accessible, you can remove the lid and use the chain to flush the toilet. Dual flush toilets also have a plastic stem or tube that goes through the bowl.

Depending on your toilet, a universal toilet lever replacement may work. These are available at most hardware stores for under $10. For some brands, you may need a brand-specific lever. In a few cases, the part may not be available at hardware centers but is available through plumbing suppliers, plumbers or the manufacturer.

I hope this helps.

(Note: the nut inside the toilet bowl uses a left-handed thread. This is the only case in plumbing where it's lefty to tighten and righty to loosen.)

Kohler 3810 toilet wom't flush

Check and see if the handle or the chain inside the tank is broken. If it is, find out the make and model and get replacement. There are many different types of handles out there. Some universal handles won't work, so bring the handle with you when you buy a new one..

The flush handle isn't working right

hi there:) if your flush handle is not working rite it is probably broken. the good news is that a flush handle is very inexpensive (most) and very easy to replace. if you take the top off your toilet tank and look at it you will see what i mean. the only thing you need to know is that the little plastic threaded nut which holds the handle in place is reverse thread so if you could face the nut from inside the tank you will turn it to the right to loosen it and left to tighten. hope this helps but if you need anything else just ask:)

How to Troubleshoot a Flushometer

A flushometer consists of a metal pipe extending from the back of a toilet with a slender handle on the side that is used to flush a toilet. This type of flush valve is commonly used for toilets in commercial facilities to provide a durable and accurate flush delivery system. If the flushometer does not work properly, troubleshoot it and perform minor repairs. Common issues are often resolved quickly. If troubleshooting does not correct the problem, call a plumber for repairs.

Does Not Flush

1 Inspect the handle assembly. A broken handle or assembly will prevent flushing. If damaged, unscrew and remove the handle assembly. Replace the handle or repair it with a handle repair kit

2 Open the main water supply valve to turn the water on fully. The water supply is normally turned on, but check to make sure it is turned on fully and has not been turned off inadvertently

3 Remove the flushometer's CP cover, the round cap on the very top of the pipe extending from the toilet. Then remove the inside cover directly underneath the cap. Inspect the relief valve. Replace it if it is visibly damaged.

Short Flush

1 Remove the CP cover and inside cover. The CP cover is located on the very top of the pipe extending from the back of the toilet. The inside cover is underneath the CP cover and the diaphragm assembly is located beneath the inside cover. Remove and inspect the diaphragm assembly. A damaged diaphragm assembly can cause a short and incomplete flush. Replace it if it is visibly damaged.

2 Replace or repair the handle assembly. A damaged handle can result in a short flush. If damaged, unscrew and remove the handle assembly. Replace the handle or repair it using a handle repair kit.

3 Remove the CP cover and inside cover to remove the diaphragm assembly. If a low consumption diaphragm is installed on a water-saver fixture or a urinal diaphragm is installed on a toilet fixture, replace it with an appropriate diaphragm.

I have a broken oblong duel flush toilet button. I carn't find a replacement. All the replacement buttons appear to be round. I do not know the toilet make.

Unscrew handle, most likely has left hand threads. Take off & bring to either Home Depot or Lowes near you & they will have or be able to get you the correct one.

The lever (handle) to flush the toilet does not rise after it is pushed down, causing the toilet to run. One has to push the lever (handle)up after the down motion to make it function properly.

I had this issue as well with my toilet. My chain was unattached and had been sucked down the drain under the stopper valve preventing the toilet stopper valve from completely closing and causing the water to continually run. After re-attaching the chain I noticed when I flushed the toilet that the handle did not rise again until I manually pushed it up. After readjusting the chain to a tighter position where the chain was not floating at all but instead holding the stopper valve in place I again flushed to check the reaction. This fixed the issue of the water continually running and also the handle not resetting itself properly.

Here is the steps I took to resolve my issue:

Step 1: Remove the lid off of the tank.

Step 2: Check to see if the chain coming from the Toilet Handle to the Stopper Valve is loose, unattached, or broken.

Step 3: Flush the toilet and check to see if the problem has been fixed. If not readjust the chain to a different position and flush again.

Step 4: If all is resolved replace the tank lid.

Other possible things to check:
Check the Float Ball to see if it's Half-way or more submerged in the water. If it is it needs to be replaced.

I hope this helps!
