Try unplugging BOTH the repeater and the router, Then, plug the router back in and let it establish a connection. Then, plug the repeater in and let it reestablish the connection.

I havea Netgear WN3000 RP extender allowing my laptop to work in the house away from my work computer. Now its asking for a username and password which I dont have.

The question is what is asking for the user name and password. The router would not do that unless you are trying to log on to the router. The modem maybe asking you to provide that info for the service provider account but that would be true with the tower too.

How do I retrieve my password?

Passwords are only known by the person who did put it in.
But most routers and wireless access point, have a possibility to reset the device and then the standard admin password will become active again. For that you can look into the manual, or even on the device itself, where it says how to reset the device and what will be the default admin pass word. Be aware, after that you have to reinstall the whole device, so if you don't have the manual at hand or not enough knowledge, please leave it as it is, if you still need the device, till someone can help you.

I cannot connect my hg532 wifi range extender to my Echolife wn3000rp router

The HG532 is a broadband router, not wireless range extender.

So it will not connect up with another router.

You need to buy a range extender.

Belkin f9k1106v1 range extender not connecting

QUICK TIP: When finding a location for your range extender, it is best to place it within the same room as the computer.
You can also use https://192.168.206.1 to access the range extender's web-based setup page.
Step 1:
Place the range extender in an area where the Wi-Fi signal of your router is strong, but near where you want to establish your extended network.
Step 2:
Plug in the power supply of the range extender and make sure that it is powered ON. Shortly, its light will begin to flash blue and orange.
Step 3:
Place your computer near the range extender. Also, make sure your computer is not wired to any other network devices.
Step 4:
Connect your computer to the range extender by opening the list of Wi-Fi networks and selecting Belkin.setup. Confirm that the list shows it's connected.
Step 5:
Open a web browser, enter https://belkin.range into the Address bar, and follow the on-screen instructions. Don't forget to type "http".
Once the setup for your range extender is complete, you may connect the computer to its Wi-Fi.
