The cheapest, fastest way is to unthread, look in all the thread 'pickup points' and make sure that there are no broken threads caught in the movement, then Rethread according to your machine's manual/diagram. If rethreading does not help, change the needle-sometimes the smallest of burrs, bends, whatever, in the needle can make a machine not work!

try changing the needle rethread the machine top and bobbin make sure to use every thread guide make sure the top thread has not come off the thread take up lever--this can cause the sewing machine to jam if it's a top loading bobbin--take the bobbin out of the bobbin case and turn it around and reinsert the bobbin if it's a side or front loading bobbin take the bobbin and bobbin case out and make sure the bobbin is inserted correctly into the bobbin case and that the bobbin case is inserted correctly into the sewing machine.
try rethreading the machine top and bobbin--make sure to use every thread guide try changing the needle--make sure the needle is turned the right way and inserted correctly into the needle holder make sure the bobbin is turned the right way in the bobbin case and if the machine still will not pick up the bobbin thread it would be a good idea to have the machine checked to see if the timing is ok.
here is a link for a free manual just incase you don't have one
make sure the presser foot is at it's hightest position, then thread the top of the machine change the needle make sure the bobbin is not over full that it is turned the right way in the bobbin case if none of these suggestions work,,it is also possible that the machne is out of time & needs to be checked at a repair shop
Why don't your change your needle, flat side facing to the rear, then make sure that you are threaded correctly. Now turn the handwheel towards you, never away or you will mess up your timing. Maybe go to youtube and watch some of the instruction videos. There should be no reason for the thread not to pick up the thread if you are threaded right, bobbin and top thread.
Sounds like you have to take off the throat plate and clean out threads under it. Sometime they ball up and prevent the needle from going down and catching the bobbin thread. You can't see themuntil you take off the plate. Follow the directions. It is easy.
It looks right but its not. Try looking on the internet for threading instructions. The bobbin winds in two directions, I have never saw a Bernina but I have 2 new machines and the thread goes in and then threads back to the left. Its hard to describe. But if the bobbin isn't right it will not pick up the thread. Write to Bernina for instructions. There are websites that have the directions for free.
This machine has a safety clutch which is designed to protect the hook
mechanism. To access it, place the machine on it's back. About 8-10
inches from the right side you will see an assembly on the main shaft.
You need to hold this assembly with a push button located on the bed of
the machine while you turn the handwheel. It will click in place when
it is in the correct position. Once you've done this the machine should
be back in time so it will sew.Hold the top thread ,turn the handwheel
and draw the bottom thread up before you begin sewing. Place a piece of
fabric under the foot , turn the wheel by hand to make sure there is no
binding and that the thread is being picked up. sewman7
