Re: Pixma iP4200

I was having the exact same problem. Then I took the time to read the error messages I was getting and it said to press the paper load button on the front of the printer (the bottom one) to switch the feeder tray from bottom to top. hee hee. Too bad it took me 2 hours before I figured that one out! Hope this helps!

Re: Pixma iP4200

These problems cane be caused by a number of things.

1. Dirty or worn pickup rollers. Clean the rollers with alcohol. This can be hard to do because you have to clean the portion of the roller that actually contacts the paper. This will only work if the rollers are slipping on the paper.

2. Object stuck in paper path. Again, can be hard to get rid of depending on how far in it is. It can actually prevent the tray from moving into the pickup position.

3. Broken gear in the paper pickup assembly, or somehow the timing has been changed. The gears in many paper pickup assemblies (or ASF for Auto Sheet Feeder) have to be timed correctly. If someone has pulled a piece of paper out causing the gears to skip a few coggs, the timing can be off and the unit will either not pick up paper or will fire a sheet or two out as soon as it's turned on. Unfortunately this fault would have to be corrected by a service tech who knows how to reset the timing correctly.

Paper feed issues when there is no Paper jam. All the rollers move when the printer tries to feed paper. It'll feed about and inch and a half of paper and then stop showing a Paper Jam.

85% of paper jams are caused by worn rollers . The rubber treads in the rollers wears down, making them smooth, so they won't pick up the paper. Sometimes, they are aged, which also gives them a smoother rounded texture, causing jams. The quick fix is to liven up that roller with a mixture of alcohol and soap. Damp a rag with the solution and wipe the rollers clean with it. That's make them more pliable and the paper jams will cease. If you plan to keep your printer,

Replace the pick-up and feed rollers.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response

Thanks, Joe

Paper is feeding in on right but not on left so just screws up

Try turning over and shaking to see if something is stuck in the feed area and try feeding from the bottom tray if the top roller is worn out.

My canon printer/copier does not feed paper in machine. makes all the sound but wont feed. help

1. Try cleaning the paper feed rollers

Instructions how to clean the paper feed rollers.
If the paper feed rollers become dirty, they may not be able to properly feed paper due to the feed roller's slippage.
If paper does not feed correctly, perform the following to clean the paper feed rollers:
  1. Open the Printers folder.

    - For Windows XP Home Edition : Click/Select 'Start,' 'Control Panel,' 'Printers and Other Hardware,' and 'Printers and Faxes.

    - For Windows XP Professional Edition : Click 'Start' and 'Printers and Faxes.'

    - For Windows Vista : Click 'Start,' 'Control Panel,' 'Hardware and Sound,' and 'Printers.'

    - For Windows 2000 : Click/Select 'Start,' and 'Settings,' then 'Printers.'
  2. Right-click the icon of the printer for paper feed roller cleaning, and select 'Properties' from the displayed list.
  3. Click the 'Maintenance' tab and click 'Roller Cleaning'.

Remove all sheets of paper from the rear tray, then click 'OK'.
  4. Confirm the message, and click 'OK'.
Note: Clicking 'OK' will activate the paper feed rollers 30 times. This activation will take about 90 seconds. Do not perform other operations until this operation has finished.
  5. Confirm the message, and click 'OK'.

After the continuous paper feeding operations in step 5 have finished, load three sheets of plain paper and click 'OK'.

  6. Confirm the message, and click 'OK'.

Note: “Feed roller cleaning is completed” message is displayed when the paper is fed and ejected.

    Click 'OK'.
Roller Cleaning is completed.

Paper pulls to the right, jams, won't print, tried different paper still won't print

Sounds like the feed rollers need cleaning.
Clean the feed rollers, lint free cloth, bottled water.
wait for them to properly dry

Revolve the feed roller bar as you clean them, to clean the feed rollers all the way round, remove all particles from them.

Check you ADF grips are set correctly, if not you will get mis-fed sheets. check the tray is sat properly too or mis-feeds.

Check paper size is correct in print properties too.
Should be good then
Try print.

Printer paper feed for Canon iP4200

There are probably problems with the rollers or the gear sequence that drives them. This type of repair may be more costly than what the printer is worth!

i have canon pixma ip1200, and I encountered the same problem with yours..SERVICE ERROR 6000, i tried to do a lot of things in my printer, i tried to Turn it on and off but it doesn't fix my problem, then I read that error came from, paper feed and roller..then i tried to pull and roll the soft plastic of the roller at the left side of the printer (if you're facing the printer, make sure the printer is off) then i notice that something's blocking the roller and then i turned the printer on and that's works again, so far i've encountered the problem 2 times and i did the same procedure at the second time i encountered the problem.. I hope this will HELP you..;-)

Sheet feeder isn't working

which feeder? for the oringinal copy? or the blank paper. Either way it sounds like the rubber feed rollers need to be cleaned. With a rag and some rubbing alcohol clean all rubber rollers.
