Hello John West,
I just checked MY first recommended SPARES dealer
(link will be at bottom: "
SHOPJIMMY" for stock... on your
ProScan plded3257a-b... They are out-of-stock
WHICH MEANS MY 1st
GUESS is a popular GUESS.
Your main
POWERBOARD is divided into specific power sections...
MOST LIKELY... you could open your set and (
I DO NOT recommend) be able to measure... the PRINTED voltages around the out-put points WRITTEN around ON the Printed Circuit Board... (but these boards are
in-expensive and the risk of injury is not worth the POTENTIAL savings
(assuming you have the requisite skills & materials).
Always check your OWN
BOARD NUMBERS...!!!
Never force any connections...!!
Take lots of pictures ... put
EVERYTHING EXACTLY BACK.
My
first and ALWAYS recommendation... always protect delicate SEMI-CONDUCTORS by wearing
anti-static wrist straps... A tiny static spark you might not feel is sufficient to RUIN the diodes in your cars ALTERNATOR (honest... for reals).
Second serious precaution... Use shopjimmy, amazon, eBay or worse... Searspartsdirect.com... (at page bottom)
Never rely on anything but your
OWN circuit board numbers.
Serious ELECTRONIC technicians always take
STATIC PRECAUTIONS... and turn off the power (when-ever possible).
It is not improbable that the
mainboard is your issue...
but compared to a "QUALIFIED" (good) home repair technician...
It is a mistake you can afford about
5 more times...
and if you can go BACK to your ORIGINAL FAILURE condition... you are doing fine (excellent start)...
Most "home technicians" aren't even good.
As far as I'm concerned... these packs are too cheap to recommend live power tests (YOU can get seriously ZAPPED)...
If the POWER BOARD does not immediately power up... I would suggest you assume 1 (one) of two (2) things...
1. Your "
NEW" board is also bad (or you did not try to select "
sources" when you installed it... (been there.. did that).
2. It was actually your
MAIN-BOARD that needed to be replaced.
Buy one....
TRY IT.
Hey... if you like the set... so you end up with a couple of spare packs... properly handled & stored they will only appreciate in value).
Ill-advised activity... (voltage testing)
If you own a decent volt meter...
and you can look CLOSELY at the
TEST POINTS... YOUR POWER BOARD
voltages are printed on the circuit-board OUTPUTS:
Just keep in mind...
you can get hurt... while causing more damage... with careless handling!!
Take photos... Work safely...
Check your numbers and
ALWAYS wear ESD (static) wrist bands...
