Playstation not reading any of my disks.

When I put in a Playstation 2 game into the system, it does not recognize the disk at all. It doesn't seem to spin the disks either. Everything else is in place, the power plug, the tv jacks, even the disks are placed perfectly. I close the lid, and I wait for it to read my disk but it doesn't show the disc picture nor does it say, "Reading disk". It wasn't always like that, but it was dropped once, and after that, it never worked again. It would be apreciated if someone told me how to fix this problem so that I can continue playing on the PlayStation.

Very likely that the drive mechanism is damaged at this point if you say that it won't even begin reading the CD/DVDs.
For a PS2, you might just consider getting a replacement,
or as an alternative, get an external USB HDD, and load your games onto that, although it takes some reading and learning how to do this >> www.sksapps.com >> PS2 section

Playstations are not my forte, but judging by the symptoms, it looks like that drop either destroyed the disc drive, or damaged the connection between the disc drive and the motherboard.

If you feel confident, you can try disassembling the unit , and trying to diagnose the problem (check all leads, look for broken solder joints) and remedy it.

If you don't want to, or can't disassemble - Your best bet is a replacement unit or a professional repair.

SOURCE: Playstation 3

When that happened to our PS3 we had to send it back and get a new one because they were having a problem with the blueray readers with the systems. But that problem is suppose to be fix. but more than likely its the reader.

SOURCE: the playstation got really sensitive with reading disks

Sounds like you need to clean the lens on your PS2. The best solution is to find a DVD player lens cleaner from a local electronics store (make sure it is a good quality one, don't buy the cheapest one) and put it into your PS2 disc tray. It will play the disc using the DVD player on the PS2. Make sure you follow the directions for the lens cleaner very carefully, as you don't want to accidentally scratch your lens.

That should help with the reading issues. Good luck!

I bumped my newer ps3 slim and now it wont read games or movies what is prob wrong when i put a game in it sounds like its going to eject but dont

The disk drive holder has probably been knocked out of place, contact Sony 08705998877 Sony Playstation Customer Service.
Or take it to your local generic electronics repair store.

Disk read error, turn console on goes to system configuration press x goes to mem card and says reading disk then says disk read error

This is a result of one of two things-

1) Your disc is dirty, damaged, or scratched. To fix this just clean it gently with a wet cloth, if it still doesnt work you can take it to a game store to have it cleaned there. It is possible that it is scratched to much and is unable to read at all.

2) Your Playstation 2's reading laser has become damaged or dirty. I suggest blowing air through the system with your mouth or preferably a can of compressed air which can be purchase at most retail stores.

This error seems most likely to be a disc issue.

Everytime put a game in it doesn,t read have tried cleaning disk but still doesn,t read disks

This can be caused by a dirty laser in the drive. Try cleaning the laser with a q-tip and alcohol. If this does not fix the problem, the laser may need to be replaced. Contact Sony and see if the unit is still under warranty.

Not recognizing the game

the laser lens that reads the disk is dirty, buy a dvd that comes with a little bottle of solution, this will clean the internal lens, other 2 possible reasons, the dvd disks/games are dirty or too many stratches, and or the dvd disk/game is damaged, you can buy a scratch remover kit from any local store. These are the simple most common problems seen with video games and dvd players.

Disk does'nty work on my playstation 3

If all games are like this then you might have a faulty system if it's only a few or one then it might be the disk. If it's not the disk then I don't know

PLAYSTATION 2

Hi,
your laser is weak or faulty.
Try using a laser head cleaning disk, or have a replacement laser fitted.

Playstation 2 problem

I would try cleaning your Playstation games, Check and make sure that the games your trying to play are not cracked in anyway. Also, if you have your system standing vertically lay it down horizontally. Many times after you've closed the disk in it lens to far away from the lens.
