Best way to connect sony Bravia TV, RDR-HXD890 recorder and Sky Q box, please??

Connecting your old RDR-HXD890 player/recorder to your Sky Q box and TV can be done by using the appropriate cables and connections. Here is an example of how you can connect the devices:
  1. Connect the HDMI output of the Sky Q box to the HDMI input of the RDR-HXD890 using an HDMI cable. This will send the video and audio signals from the Sky Q box to the RDR-HXD890.
  2. Connect the HDMI output of the RDR-HXD890 to the HDMI input of the TV using an HDMI cable. This will send the video and audio signals from the RDR-HXD890 to the TV.
  3. Connect the aerial cable to the aerial input of the RDR-HXD890
  4. Connect the RDR-HXD890 to the power outlet
  5. Turn on all the devices and set the TV to the HDMI input where the RDR-HXD890 is connected.
By connecting your devices in this manner, you will be able to watch and record TV shows and movies from your Sky Q box through the RDR-HXD890 and display them on your TV.

I have a Panasonic tv model TH 42PZ80B; a Panasinic Blu-Ray dvd model DMP-BD50; a sky box (not as yet HD) and a Sony video SLV-SE 830G. I have a Satellite dish and a normal TV aerial. In the loft I have a...

You need to try and isolate the piece of equipment which is causing the problem.

You've already tried the aerial lead direct to the TV and this is OK.

Disconnect all scart leads and try the RF on its own.

Try the Aerial lead to video, then video to TV.

Try aerial direct to Sky box, then to TV.

Try just connecting the RF out from the Sky box to the TV (no aerial input), can you tune into a good channel 68 picture from the Sky box.

Then Try the VCR to the Sky box (no aerial input), see if you can tune into the VCR and Sky channel.
Hope that helps.......

My cello tv won't tune in at all. Every time I try auto tune it goes through the process of tuning then says no signal.

Auto tune would be for the old analogue TV system I believe. Does the aerial connect through a box or direct to the TV? The Sky box should connect through scart (very old) or HDMI which you just need to choose the right input for. Look for a button on your remote for input or an icon that looks like a screen with an arrow pointing into the middle.

I don't have an aerial, I have satellite. I hav gone through the tuning several times and called the help desk: no joy. I have connected: Scart Sky box-TV....HDMI sky box-TV

The sky box is the box you use to watch TV The flat panel is just the monitor to receive the picture from the sky box you cannot tune the TV to receive the sky EPG signal Use the HDMI input in the TV menu that the sky box is attached to

Panasonic TX P50V10B Plasma TV

In order to get any of the Freesat channels, you need to connect a Satellite dish to your TV. If you have a Sky dish, you simply need to run an extra Cable from the LNB from the dish and connect to your socket on the back of your TV.
In order to get Freeview channels and Analogue channels, you need to connect a aerial to the back of the TV.
There is a menu option for the TV to start straight to the AV input (your Sky HD box). It is Menu > Setup > Other Settings > Power on Preference. Select 'AV' for your TV to start on Sky HD.
Also even if you have your TV to start on TV, when you turn on your Sky HD box, it should automatically switch to the Sky box.

Unable to Tune TV to Sky + RF output

Hi.

The problem is that the modulator output frequency of your sky box is exactly the same as for example chanel 5 on your terestrial aerial.
You need to change this number to a different one thats clear of local terestrial transmissions

1) Select the Services button on your Sky or Sky+ remote control.

2) Type in 401 [select] on your key pad and you will get to the installer menu. You cant gain access to this via the drop down menu as it is designed for the Sky Engineer to use.

3)
Select Option 4 to configure the RF outlets on your Sky Digibox.

4) The option RF Chanel Number change this number from example 35 to 60 .
You may need to do this using other numbers 26 34 55 etc
Every time you alter the number store it then try & tune TV to sky.
Any other sets in the house connected by RF leads will require retuning for sky.
Save new settings and you should find that your RF outlet to TV works fine.
