SOURCE: Bicycle computer not registering speed

On both the sensor stick (which goes on the fork) and the magnet (which goes on the spokes) there is a center line engraved on each. The centerlines on both have to cross each other at a distance of about 1/4" to register on the odometer.

Trying to install Sunlite HD tourer rear carrier #45772. on a Rand 18 speed. There are no holes for front brackets in frame. Do you just drill the holes?

Never drill holes in a bike frame unless you have a death wish. "Rand 18-speed" doesn't tell us much. Most cheapo bike frames have a 'brake bridge' with a hole on the center for mounting accessories like fenders. Many racks can mount with a single rather than double front supports.. Lacking that, call a bike shop or web search for "bicycle seatstay rack clamps" to adapt the rack to attach to the seat stays.

Sunlite also makes a seatpost rack mount http://www.bikebagshop.com/sunlite-rack-mount-seat-post-clamp-p-1146.html?gdftrk=gdfV22203_a_7c1316_a_7c5544_a_7c11461678151 which looks like a more elegant way to solve the problem.

Twisted handle bars pulled cable out of the computer-how do i reattach?

Very few bicycle computers have detachable wiring. Most likely you will need to replace the mounting hardware for your computer. I could help more if I knew the brand and model of the computer.

How do you install a drink cage and a basket ?

Installation of water bottle holder is simple. It usually mounts using the two screws on the top of the tube leading to the pedals of the frame. Remove these screws from the frame using a 4mm or 5mm allen wrench, place the holder over these holes, and rescrew in the bolts.

Installation of the basket is dependent on the model and location of the basket. However, all will mount to the frame(in the back) or fork of the bike on bosses.

What kind of disk batteries does the pulse meter use on the schwinn model dx900.

The computer on your Schwinn DX900 exercise bike uses one 1.5V AAA battery. In order to replace the battery, you'll need to:

1. unscrew the computer from the mount
2. gently disconnect the computer sensor wire from its socket
3. unscrew the back panel of the computer (four screws)
4. remove the old battery and install the new
5. repeat steps 1-3 in reverse order.

Illustrated instructions can be viewed in the PDF manual here: http://download.dfxi.com/supportdocs/OM/Schwinn/SCH_DX900_OM_web.pdf

Good luck.

Cateye double wireless stopped showing time distance speed and cadenece mid ride having worked fine for a month after initial installation. Display shows time and odometer ok, just zero for everything...

Well, it IS wireless so it need ssome good juice and line of site from the sensor to the receiver to work.

Take the unit off the handlbar mount and hold it close to the transmitter while you move the wheel magnet past the sensor.

If it starts to work begin moving the computer farther away toward your handlebar mount and figure out where it dies and why. Some units have distance specs that must be adhered to.

Do you have a clock that mounts on the handle bar of a bicycle?

I don't believe there are clocks made for bicycles. However bicycle computers show the time. They normally have several functions and you can set which ever you want to be shown. They can be bought at most bicycle shops or if you look them up in Google there's plenty of online shops selling them.

There are no instructions

If you are looking for instructions on how to mount the seat onto your seat post, it is a straightforward, easy install. If you are asking how to actually use the seat, that is also very easy to explain. Can you please clarify what you specifically need instructions for. Bicycle seats do not usually come with instructions, as one can see how to install a seat by simply removing the old seat. If you use an adjustable wrench, or alternately an open ended wrench to remove the existing seat, you can easily install the new seat yourself. Be sure to firmly tighten the rail clamps underneath the seat (using the bolt that is inserted through the u-shaped seat post clamp) so there is no shifting of the seat while riding. If you need additional information, please write back.

Thank you for using FixYa.
