A "CRC" (Cyclic Redundancy Check) is caused by an disk-drive error.

When you write a "block' of data to your disk-drive, a CRC value is calculated, and is also written to the disk. When you try to read that "block" of data, the CRC value is also read from the disk,
and a new CRC is calculated from the data. If the "new" CRC does not match the "old" CRC, then you have a "check" condition -- either the data was not written correctly, or the data could not be read correctly.

Now, did the "check" message refer to the "source" of the copying operation (namely your 'C:' drive) , or the "target"(namely the external drive) ???

Try to copy the PST file to another file on your 'C:' drive.
If you do not see the "check", then it is the external disk-drive that has a problem.
If you do see the "check", then open Outlook, create a new folder,
and copy a group of messages into the new folder. If Outlook reports that one of the messages could not be copied, then the disk-space occupied by that message is faulty, and must be excluded.

2009 is wonderful, and so are 2009 Movies! There are so many excellent movies that we can enjoy them in Xmas holiday. Want to Backup DVD movie or Share Movies with Family and Friends?
We need a cool software which can help us copy DVD movies on mac, I think some third party softwares will be a better choice than Disk Utility.
Just like Mac DVD Copy Pro which is specially designed for Mac OS X users to lets you Backup DVD Movie on Mac with just a few clicks. It also allows you to output DVD folder and directly burn DVD Movie on Mac to new DVD discs.
Step 1: Open Mac DVD Copy Pro and Insert DVD Movie need to be backuped.
These Movies can be Sunmmer Movies or Christmas Movies, such as Transformers 2, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, 2012, Twilight, The Twilight Saga: New Moon, A Christmas Carol and so on.

Step 2: Select DVD Copy Method
After inserting DVD, the main interface will turn around. And you can see the DVD whole contents in the menu list. If you insert DVD9 disc, you can choose the D9 to D5 compression option to compress DVD9 disc to DVD5. You can choose Main Movie Copy, Customized Copy or Full Copy from Copy Options according to your needs.
With the help of Mac DVD Copy Pro, you can Backup these DVD Movies to ISO Files, Video_TS or .DVDMedia files on Mac OS X, even on Mac OS Snow Leopard. You also have the choice to backup the above three formats to your external hard drive.
After simple tips, click Start button to begin burning.

Step 3: Finish the DVD Settings
After clicking ?start? button, you need to type in the DVD name for the new disc. And you also need to choose optical driver to burn the disc if there is more than one driver. You can also choose the copy speed and quantity according to your own need.
Step 4: Start Copying DVD Movies
When the setting finished, DVD Copy Pro will start burning DVD and save the data to a temperate file. After burning, the program starts encoding DVD and will inform you to insert a suitable blank DVD disc.
Now you can share DVD movies with friends or watch them on Mac and DVD player in the New Year holiday.

The NASTY "CRC" Error ......Tackle IT

What does CRC(Cyclic Redundancy Check “error”) mean?

There are plenty of technical resources on the Web that discuss cyclic redundancy checks (CRCs). Most times you won't need to worry about this technobabble. That is, until one it day it suddenly appears and you think - what the hell does that mean? In simple terms, a CRC is bit of mathematics used to ensure that your data is OK when being transfered. It's a checking procedure that quickly identifies when data has been damaged. If you get this message, it means that the file being read by your PC or software is corrupted. However, it does not mean all the data is lost forever. When data is transfered, it is usually in small blocks and each block is given a CRC value. If something goes wrong with the data between the time it leaves the source and arrives at its destination, the CRC sent at the source will no longer match the one that is calculated when the data arrives - this is when the cyclic redundancy check error will appear.

The most common time you will see the cyclic redundancy check error message is when trying to read data from a damaged CD or DVD. Just before it appears, your CD/DVD drive will probably grind and whirl away - your PC may also become a little slugglish.

Less frequent causes are the result of system crashes, and buggy software (hello Microsoft), incomplete downloads (often identified by the misleading message 'This is not a valid Windows file', 'This is not a valid win32 application' or 'Corrupt Zip file'). If this problem happens frequently with downloads, try using a download manager.

For CDs and DVDs, the problem is a little different. Normally, when CD/DVD drives get a CRC message from a disc, they try to read the disc again - hence the grinding sound. After several failed attempts, they give up and display the redundancy check error. The problem can be hardware (loose cables, failing drive), software or damaged media. In most cases checking and cleaning the disc is the easiest way to overcome the problem. If different clean discs produce the same error, it is likely to be a hardware issue (check the discs in another drive). Another common cause of these errors is poorly burnt CDs and DVDs - especially those that had numerous or severe buffer underuns. USB burners suffer from this problem when the burn speed is too high (generally above 4X-8X)

If the discs are damaged, you'll probably need a recovery tool to get back your data. CDCheck 3 will work for CDs and DVDs. First it will check the media, and then you have the option to recover the files. It's free for personal use and has saved many people heartache when it comes to recovering lost digital images and videos from damaged CDs.

Cyclic Ewdundancy

cyclic redundancy means the actual data comosing the file has been corrupted. dvd shrink sometimes corrupts data when the compression is turned too high. CRC errors are problems in the base Hexidecimal coding used above binary coding that the proccessor uses.

Basically, you need to get new data cause that one is gone.

Sony DVD RW AW-Q170A Burning Problem Plzzz.....Help me out: i have two drives, 1) Sony DVD RW AW-Q170A 1.70 Ver 2) Sony DVD/CD-RW Combo RYK4 Ver My "Sony DVD RW...

Check that the writable DVDs you are using are compatible (+/-) with your Sony DVD-RAM.
Go to Windows Explorer and check to see if the Sony drive is visible. It may not be connected or the Jumper switch may be set incorrectly.
Check you have drivers installed, take a look in Hardware manager.
Sometimes, it's a little difficult to copy CDs and DVDs when you have more than one burning suite installed - for some reason, they 'just don't get along'. Try uninstalling any suites other than Nero.
Or it may just be that your Sony CD-RW drive is just that, and your DVD-RW drive is just that. So it wouldn't be possible to write DVDs on the CD-RW and CDs on the DVD-RW? Though I would assume Nero would detect that and use your hard-drive as temporary storage.
In Nero SmartStart, have you selected the CD or DVD tab to correspond to the project you're burning?
