If you're using RCA video cables red white and yellow plug the yellow wire from the DVD player into the green input on the TV and then plug the two audio cables red and white into the same input red and white on the TV it's the green one that carries the video signal this is generally call the component input because it breaks down the colors into their components most DVD players do not have component outputs but if you hook the green and the yellow from the DVD player you should get a picture

SOURCE: Universal Remote Control

I work for Coby technical support. Our customer service phone number is 1-800-727-3592.

Unfortunately, Coby is a company whose electronics cannot be controlled by any remote other than the one that came with it. This means there is no code available for universal remotes. If you need a replacement remote (it will be identical to the one that came with the unit) please call our customer service number above. They will take your information and provide you with the procedure for ordering a part from Coby.

If you feel this solution doesn't deserve a good rating, please let me know why so that I may better assist you. If there is anything more I can do to help, I will!

SOURCE: philips universal remote not working for my coby dvd 224

I work for Coby technical support. Our customer service phone number is 1-800-727-3592.

Traditionally, universal remotes do not work with COBY dvd players. The fact that you've found one that works at all is surprising. There isn't a true solution to your problem, however, because Philips created the coding for that remote without any input from COBY. The only thing you can try is a different COBY code if there is one in the code section of the book that came with your Philips remote.

While this solution doesn't "fix" your problem, I hope that by giving you the facts, I've enabled you to make an informed decision as to what to do next.

Please let me know if I can assist you further.

You can usually look up your universal remote manufacturers' website, and they'll have a listing of all the codes for the remote.

I can get composite video signal from coby dvd, but the component video shows no picture. Audio is OK. What could be the problem.

Hello,

Are you using component video cables for the component outputs on your tv? Plugging composite cables into component output generally will produce poor if any video.

Also, check the back of your dvd player to see if you need to flip a switch to enable component video output. Good luck.

Cannot connect DVD Player to cable ready television

If your tv does not have the standard 3 plug video ports ( Yellow, White, Red ) then you will need an RF modulator to step in between the Direct TV box and the tv on the cable line.

No longer plays color picture

Try the settings for "pal - ntsc - cvbs" video formats, if the tv and dvd aren't set the same, then this can cause the problem(usually with distortion to picture, depending on how it's mis-matched)

Can't program coby dvd 224 help

Shana, What are you really trying to do!!!! Do you understand what the jacks on the Coby DVD player are for?? Can you connect the Coby player directly to TV AUX inputs and play a DVD?
Is the satellite 'box' still connected to TV/Monitor using TV Tuner set to chann 3 or 4? Is the TV you
are trying to use have any or none of those YELLOW/RED/WHITE jacks on the back of it that you
have never plugged anything into them. Is the TV always set to Ch3, and is never changed to any
other Ch number??? Do you only change Ch up or down using the satellite "box" tuner? ALL these
questions and more must be answered by you before anyone can help you out. You must know your
own equiptment and its capabilities. The COBY Player will never be found by the satellite dish tuner.

Coby 224 Screen Slowly Fades to Dark and Back To Light

Usually if your getting it with the MENU then your connection is weak, are you going through a VCR or some other type of device besides directly to the tv? Try hooking unit directly to the tv. Besides that, its possible you could of messed with the settings, go to the menu, go to advanced and do a reset to make sure no settings were adjusted, the disk has to be out of the tray while you do the reset.

Coby dvd-224 "loading"

If everything else seems to be functioning, try using your remote to reset the TV. There is a setting to switch the TV from being a TV to being a screen, or monitor, for the DVD player. What the button is labeled varies by manufacturer. It may be: TV/DVD, input, source, display, or something else. Display, for instance, displays the choice on the screen. Highlight and select DVD or perhaps the brand name of the DVD player.

if coby is an independent company you are out of luck. Is coby made by a "master company"? (e.g. orion is made by emerson and their codes work for orion products)
