F7 refers to a bad inverter board but some times can be the magnatron the process for testing way to complicated plus it requires special needle point test leads usually just change both since you have to drop unit to change either one pricey usually over 200 for inverter mag ranges 150-250 depending on model maybe cheaper to replace MW

SOURCE: Error Code

F7 problems are usually caused by poor connections. I suggest to unplug the ribbon connector off the control board and cleaned the copper connectors using alcohol or with a pencil eraser. If that does not work the touch pad may be defective.

Yes, it could be the Magnetron. If the unit is out of warranty, you can try to remove the rear cover (make sure unit is unplugged) and see if there is a blown fuse in the section that powers the Magetron. They are not too difficult to replace. MCM Electronics sells them and you can call them with your model and they can find a replacement for you will be able to see how much it will cost.

SOURCE: Whirlpool Velos Microwave showing "Error

F7 means that the control panel is not getting feedback from the Switched Mode Power Supply (high-voltage inverter).

This could be due to a problem with the inverter or the control unit / circuit board, but it appears to be the latter in most cases.

We repair microwave control boards for customers nationwide with our guaranteed $39.95 service.

We have full details, plus critical safety, disassembly, and troubleshooting info at our site. You'll find a link to our site in our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

There should also be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful.

You may reply back with your brand and model number if you'd like us to look into this further, or feel free to contact me directly if you need more help.

We're happy to help and we appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

SOURCE: F7 ERROR CODE ON GH6177XPS

This is a known problem with this unit, and whirlpool has put out a Service Flash out on this. The reason this is happening is Electrical circuit interruption between the L1 and Neutral in the microwave invert circuit. This has to be addressed by a Tech.

SOURCE: whirlpool model number MH7140XFB no longer heats

you either need a new h.v. capacitor or h.v. diode in the magnetron circuitry if you cant hear it cycle when it runs as in a low pitched hummmm when its drawing current to operate the magnetron tube, each part runs about $30 to $45 each, normally its the h.v. capacitor though

How CAN i TEST MY MICROWAVE?

Most common cause of an F7 code on these models is a bad inverter or magnetron. Generally it is best to replace both the magnetron and the 1100 watt inverter board at the same time, since a bad magnetron is usually what burns out the inverter board.

Whirlpool GH5184XPS Microwave Oven F7 error, trips circuit breaker

Check the high voltage capacitor, it normally shorts, "discharge with screwdriver" unhook one side and set meter to ohms. Check high voltage diode tied into one side of the capacitor, "unhook from chassis ground" set meter to ohms and check for short, sometimes cracks, "must be replaced" If the diode is open meter does not have enough forward bias to check.

I have a 1993 GE spacemaker microwave/range hood combo. Everything works except that for most of the day it did not heat the food. The turntable still worked and the oven still appeared to be running. Then...

In short yes it can happen again.

Intermittent operation can be caused by a door interlock micro switch, a weak capacitor, an intermittent wiring connection from heat or poor connection, a marginally performing diode or a sticking Magnetron. Except for the Magnetron all other repairs would be worth the expense.

Repair costs and parts for most everything else will be between $65 and $100.00 depending on the part(s) replaced. Replacing the Magnetron would cost more than 50 % of the total unit replacement cost.

You have a faulty keypad. You could probably special order this part from a local appliance parts supply store for 50-60$ or purchase a new microwave.

Wont heat will charchol filter have any thing to do with the prob

No, the filter is a static item and has nothing to do with the operation of the microwave oven. The filter only helps to neutralize odors when the circulating fan is running and doesn't even affect the oven air, etc.

It is possible that an internal fuse has blown and is preventing the operation of the magnatron, which is what excites the food and creates the heating action. Otherwise, it is possible that the magnatron unit has failed and will need a somewhat costly repair. You can look in the owners manual to see if there is a FAQ or troubleshooting tip section that can provide some things to try first.

My experience has shown that it is sometimes less costly for a consumer (without repair experience) to replace the oven rather than repair it, depending on the age and overall condition at the time of breakdown. I always check for the internal fuses first thou, as they are cheap and fairly easy to replace with a little bit of repair sense.

F7 Error code on Kenmore Ultra Wave Microwave Hood Combination Model 665.61652100

The 665 the model number prefix means it's made by Whirlpool. F7 means it has a problem with the control board or keypad.

The first thing to try is a "hard reset". Unplug it from the power line for a minute, plug it back in, set the clock, then try again.

If it still has a problem, we repair these for customers nationwide with our guaranteed $39.95 service. If a new keypad were needed, that would add about $60 to the repair cost.

Please feel free to contact me directly if you need more help.
