CD drive casusing problems

The CD drive on my laptop stopped working on me a few days ago. When I remove it I get an error stating that "the device in the modular bay is not recognised". When I install it I get an error stating "no internal harddrive detected".
Any suggestions?

Re: CD drive casusing problems

Since the CD drive is not being recognized, here are my suggestions:
1-Reseat the CD drive. In other words, remove it from its docking bay and plug it back in.
2-If that doesn't work, reload the driver for the CD drive.
3-If that doesn't work, replace the drive.
4-If that doesn't do it, you probably need a new motherboard.

If you need any additional information, please feel free to ask. If this information has assisted you in the resolution of you problem, please return here to give my assistance an appropriate final rating.
Thanks you, and have a super day!

Could be a possibility that the drivers for the web cam got corrupted in the last few days. You may either try to install the drivers for the camera again by downloading the drivers from the manufacturer's website or you may restore the computer back to a state when everything was working fine.

Your drive is failing and you should back up any important data you need onto CD/DVD or an external USB device (hard drive/pen drive). The drive may keep working for a while but your system is warning you that it has detected a critical error with the drive and failure is imminent.

My Laptop no longer recognizes that it has a DVD/CD drive

If you can, remove unit from laptop and start laptop without CD/DVD. It is usually fairly simple to remove. Maybe a few screws in bottom of laptop. Cut off laptop and reinstall. Restart and windows should find it.

My laptop can not read disk

If the CD / DVD Rom Drive cannot be seen in the My Computer Folder you may have to have the Drive Replaced. If it was just a Driver Error you would still be able to see it. You might want to have a look at Device Manager to check that it can be seen there.
Best Regards

Cannot open cd-rom drive!

The thing about cd/dvd drives in general is that they die and thats the case here even if you deleted anything of the operating system its self would notice that the cd drive was missing the driver and ask you about it since you havent stated that its safe to say that the drive is dead

This could be a glitch with your burning software. Try removing and reinstalling it, or using a different software. The other possibility is the drive, occassionally with a CD/DVD combo drive the DVD reader or burner will fail, leaving the CD end working.
