Chec ignition first--change distributer/coil pact--or plug wires--probly worn tho u cant notice--------throttle body and idle air may be filthy-------fuel pump cud be failn---a sensor wud usually show engine lite--but a scan of vehicle using a factory tool can xplain system in detail

its just white cuz i too the cat off..

cuz i thought my proble could have been to do with the cat...

cuz i lost power driving up hills and on highways now it just will start the die right away

or start and idle really bad...

any ideas???

i was thinking crank sensor.. or injectors

I had the same problem with my Z when i had it. But it worked when i just left the little hose off of the EGR valve.

cant tell you right where its coming from with out looking at it but pull out your spark plugs and if they are covered in oil it is your valve cover seal most common but if not it could be the head gasket sorry cant be more help good luck

SOURCE: O2 Sensor Problem?

yes an o2 sensor can cause those symptoms so can a minor vacuum leak --bad ignition wire -clogging fuel filter --sticking egr valve etc.

Infinite doesn't have an inertia fuel pump cutoff switch (turns off fuel pump in a rear end collision > 3 G's), that is Mazda and Ford.

Try cleaning the Mass airflow sensor and replacing the air filter. You can buy the spray MAF sensor cleaner from any auto parts store for about $6.00, ask the parts guy how to use it.

if you have an O2 sensor faliure you will have a code for it. in fact youe exterra doesnt have O2 sensors. it has A/F sensor or "air/fuel sensor" if it went bad, than you will have a code for that sensor. What is the code number that you have?? need to start there.

Okay, I've replaced my oxygen sensor last week and

if you used a direct fit O2 it should not be giving you the code again unless the wires are touching near the plug, you got a defective sensor.
if you use a universal it may not read properly.

The throttle positioning sensor may have a inconsistant contact in a certain range. Generally caused by aggressive driving., seriously the pivots and other moving parts wear sooner because of indirect pressures at the throttle body.

have you cleaned the throttle plate? this is done by removing air intake hose and spraying out with cleaner and wiping it down open throttle and wipe off the butterfly and bore. this will usually cure a stumble.
