Re: Does not read
This depends on how much the data means to you and what the problem is with the drive. With the external hard drives it could be a problem with the board inside that converts the signal which could be fixed by removing the drive from the case and connecting the drive either directly to an IDE connection inside another computer or by connecting it using a different drive carrier. If the drive works but the data is not there any more you would need to get some data recovery software that will read the drive and re build the data. There are some really good data recovery software packages that are free for personal use. If the drive does not work at all the only real option that I can give you is to bring it to a place that does professional data recovery where they may be able to get the data without charging much money but more than likely if it comes to that point you should probably be expecting costs in the thousands of dollars.

What device are you talking about? Is it a computer hard disk, laptop hard disk or external hard disk, or SSD's.
Data can be recovered or retrieved when the media device/storage device is not in working conditions. This data can be retrieved with the help of data recovery experts. They experts have tools and devices that can help you to regain the data.
Insert the USB hard drive into the PC's USB port. Go to Control Panel - Administratve Tools - Compurt Management - click on Disk Management - scroll down and click on the external haqrd drive, delete the HPFS partition (this is the MAC file system), create a new partition NTFS - format this partition. If you want to use this external dirve to exchange data between the PC and the MAC the format this hard drive in FAT32. The MAC can read and write files in FAT32.
oped it, maybe loose cables or connections. or the worst case, a faulty hd. ticking sound means bad drive, cannot read disks. retrieve data? the better chance will be a recover technician, dont try anything else, will turn a worst problem.
Try to hook it up to another computer and see if it works there. This will tell you if the device is failing. If you have found that it failed please see about replacing the power adapter. If still no live the device has failed and needs replacement.

Have you looked both in Device Manager and in Disk Management?
Have you tried plugging your external hard drive into another computer?
If it isn't recognized on multiple computers, then you are probably experiencing a hardware failure.
There are a variety of things that can malfunction on your external hard drive: 1) The USB cable - Have you tried switching the USB cable? 2) The external hard drive casing 3) The hard drive itself
If your hard drive casing has malfunctioned, then retrieving your data is as simple as putting the hard drive inside another hard drive enclosure. Hard drive enclosures are available at any local computer store, and also available on our website. Make sure to get the right size enclosure. The I250HD35 has a 3.5" Hard Drive inside it, which is a standard desktop hard drive.
If you put your hard drive in another enclosure and it still won't show up on any of your computers, then your best bet at retrieving your data is to contact a data recovery specialist. After you have retrieved your data, we will replace your unit if you are still within the warranty period.
