I also just brought home a used Danby Silhouette 166-bottle wine fridge and it is not cooling. Did you have someone come look at yours and did you get it fixed?
does the 'closet' have any ventilation? if not the unit could have overheated and shut down or , worse, burned up the motor. any 'electric smell to it? under the unit, should be a fan, it that stopped it will not cool. look for lint build up under the unit or around any air vents. How old is the wine cooler? can you get any info from the Wine cooler's mfg web site? www.danby.com/products/wine__beverages -
If compressor is running and it gets hot and the unit does not cool the compressor is bad or you have a leak in the system. if you see oil there's a leak.
Once I figured out there were black plastic caps covering the screws holding the inside back panel in place, it was an easy fix. The cooler is now up and running. Thank you for giving me the $10 incentive to figure it out myself.
Dear moriquenda welcome to fixya. Did you try resetting the system by pulling the plug and waiting 5 minutes then restarting the wine cooler? This may solve you problem.
Danby expects customers to call service and does not imagine the rest of the world being able to utilize these codes. Closed minded, Huh?
