How do I reset a sceptre 40 inch flat screen TV
There are two types of reset to TVs. The first is simple to do; a Hard Reset; and the other is somewhat skilled; is a Factory Reset (System Reset). To make it a hard reset, just unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 15 minutes or so. If you do this by overnight; will be better. If you want to make it a system reset [Factory Reset]; you have to enter its service mode option, and select the factory reset option. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Service mode entry, adjust and exit procedure to many popular brand TVs are given. Never forget to exit the service mode, after all adjustments have been done.

You can have them repaired using a TV Repair guy but often it costs as much as a brand new tv. My daughter broke my $1,600 LCD. It would have cost $1,200 to fix.. so I just bought a new one. After that I picked up a TV screen protector called TV Armor http://www.tv-armor.com Its designed to protect the TV from damage. Now I dont have to worry anymore when she is playing near it. It works really well.

Try leaving the TV unpugged for 30 minutes so the TV can reset itself.
If that doesn't work, most likely the TV has a power supply related problem.
I can't say it's 100% the problem because I can't actually look at the tv over the internet.
If by chance the TV is still under warranty, go that route.
If not under warranty and If you have some electronic experience, you can purchase a Service Manual over the internet and diagnose the source of the problem and fix it by soldering in the new part. The Service Manual will give you circuit diagrams, test points, and part# lists. Usually, cost under $20.
I hope I shed some light on the subject for you.

Could be the decoder:
1. unplug the TV ans wait a few mins.
2. If you have digital cable box or dish tuner reboot those as well (likely your issue)
What you have is artifacting what that means is tiling garbiling and freezing this happends when the data in the digital stream just stopped hence Frozen.
Try those things rule out your cable tv box first or your sat box, if this is OTA over the air your antenna.
1. Try DVD's if it happends during a DVD you do have a decoder issue if it does not you need to talk to your cable tv or sat operator.
So you got 3 possiabilites here 1. the worse Decoder, 2 cable company or satalite provider, 3 your antenna is in the wroung position.
I sure this will help.

i had the same problem, you'll have to call the samsung service center. You TV's part which looks after the voltage connectivity has failed. This majorly happens due to voltage fluctuations. The part will cost around Rs. 2800 and service charges will be applied by the company.

Hi Thanks for
using FixYa. From what you have described it seems that you might have a backlight and/or an inverter
board issue with this TV set. It could also be due to the inverter
circuits for the backlights. The inverter is the power supply source
for the backlights. There could also be a screen driver problem; if it is
then you have to change the entire inverter board. All this is only recommended
if you have some kind of expertise for checking the internal circuitry of the
TV as these units have high voltages running even when the set is switched off.
The cost to change the inverter board including labor would be around $250, if
you get this done by a professional. Please revert back for more help. Rylee
