Question about Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-S40 Digital Camera

1 Answer

I think the lens is stuck

Kay, back in March/April my I let my now ex boyfriend use my camera at a party and i'd been having trouble with it before like a bright white screen and stuff, but that didn't bug me because it still took pictures.
But when he handed it back to me, When I turned it on it made a whirring noise and didn't do anything.
I kept tapping it and turning it back on and off again.
I let it sit until now [november] and turned it on and off repeatedly and now I can view the pictures on the memory stick,.
But it seems the lens is stuck because it won't come out.

HELP!!!

The lens mechanism could be jammed and cause a failure of the lens control system. You can remove battery and card replace battery and while switching on tap the lens hood on your hands so as to disengage any dirt or mechanism being struck.
Use some air to blow between the lens to dislodge any sand particles struck inside. If none of these works then you can think of taking consensus with the service centre., being an expensive camera
get estimate before you decide. It will be good to have it checked at the Casio service as you do not have to run around for spares.

Lens stuck out

The lens has probably got something in the retraction mechanism that is stopping it retracting. This can be something as simple as sand or grit or as a result of a drop or knock. In most cases the camera will need to be stripped apart to remove the lens assy before it can be repaired. This is best left to a professional camera repair shop.

The lens on my casio exilim ex-z20 is stuck.

Your problem may be due to corrosion on the battery contacts inside the camera which can prevent the full power of the batteries from flowing into the camera. Try this free fix before you do anything else: remove the batteries and wipe the camera contacts firmly with a dry cloth (heavy corrosion may require cleaning with a wire brush, steel wool, or sandpaper). Remove any residue that may have fallen into the battery compartment during cleaning, then wipe both ends of the batteries and place them back in the camera. This cleaning clears the problem about 90% of the time. If it doesn't work for you, your camera may have a problem that requires professional repair.

Camera really messed up!

Have you tried taking out the batteries and leaving it alone for a bit, then loading new batteries? I would try this first before anything. Good Luck.
