Free manuals are available online for most machines. You'll need to type in Janome and the model number. There are sites that will charge you, but type in "free sewing machine manual Janome Model ****** " in a Google search.
I also found the following information on one of the Janome web pages:

For consumers looking to date an antique New Home sewing machine that was made in Orange, MA or Rockford IL, please click here. We are sorry, but no other New Home or Janome sewing machines can be dated.
The only information we can provide is a date of manufacture if you have the following information:
As for the value of the machine you are considering purchasing, you can get an idea of the price/s sellers are asking by looking at online sales of that model sewing machine. Here are some links:
Try looking on the Janome site. http://www.janome.com/index.cfm/Machines/Retired
Use the forum or the Ask Jan section, as someone there might know. http://www.janome.com/fusetalk/forum/
If you can't see your machine on the site, look for one that looks the most similar and you should be able to download a manual by clicking on the specification for that machine.
Hope this helps!
Hi
I looked on the Janome site and couldn't find a manual for this model, even in their retired machines section!
Looking at the picture above, I think your machine is most like the 521. Here's a link to a partial manual for the 521 from the Janome site. http://www.janome.com/documents/File/ManualFile/Sewist521.pdf
If it is not similar enough to your machine, go to the Janome homepage at www.janome.com and use the drop down menu marked machines. Browse through the various categories of machine until you come to one that most resembles your machine. Click on the link for that machine and then click on specifiaction and you should see a pdf icon and a download manual button to download a manual for your chosen machine. Hope this helps!
If, you go to www.sewingpartsonline.com , they sell cords etc for Janome, just know your model number and you probably can buy a manual too. They usually run about $35.00. Another suggestion, would be to take it to Sears sewing machine section and see if they have a Janome there, and will they let you try their cord. If, they will, you know that it is the problem and more than likely worth putting the money into it because you cannot buy a decent machine for that.
