my mother started with quickbooks trial version, then purchased 2005 full version. now she has lost her full version reinstall cd. problem is...when you do a search on all versions of quickbooks currently installed, it shows: the trial version, 2005 version and 2005 pro version. She should be using 2005 version, yet somehow when trying to load application, many path errors come up: EX: "cannot locate data1.cab in the path [c:program filesintuitquickbooks 2005components..." This tells me that the data1.cab needs to be found and put into the components folder. Right? So I do that, then it says the same thing {using the same path),C:program files.....components...... cannot find the installer" So I locate the installer and move it to where it says it's missing. I try running application again and something else is missing from some other location folder! Note, when I need to locate and move file to corect folder, I do the normal search , and I find exact missing files in many locations and many other paths. My question is, I know she should be running 2005 version, so I should be able to uninstall the versions she is not using but I can't. It appears as though I have all the same "missing data" issues as if I were installing it. Is there some way for me to determine the actual path for all the folders and files so I know which component belongs to which quickbooks version? Or do i have to convince my already stressed out mother she needs to buy a new one. Since I can't uninstall the versions she doesn't need I don't even know if I'm finding the right missing version file and putting it back into right folder that is missing it. When I do try reinstalling the application via the already provided selfinstaller, I make sure it's the same install icon each time. It's been kinda like a huge puzzle; the path gets longer as I replace missing files, yet it doesn't seem to reach the end. In fact, a couple times I found "a missing" data1.cab file, copied it to where it says it's missing, yet the installer stil says it's missing! So..I retrace the path, and I can clearly see it is where I was told to put it. But will it install...NO! I always use the same installer so the path I'm attempting to rectify just gets fixed not changed. TOO MANY VERSIONS, TOO MANY PATHS AND WAY TOO MANY PIECES OF MISSING DATA THAT COULD BE COMING FROM ONE VERSION AND I'M ATTEMPTING PUT THEM INTO A VERSION PATH I BELIEVE TO BE THE RIGHT ONE///WHICH IN FACT MIGHT BE THE WRONG ONE AFTER ALL!! I just wish we could locate that darn install cd. Then I could purge all different versions of any quickbook data I could locate yhen I could try a fresh install. At least with the cd in hand, I could pop it in the cd reader and look at how the file system should be set up. Could a total system restore, back dated say by a month help? I don't know how all these different versions got so intertwind? I love her like crazy, but my Mom isn't the brightest when it comes to things like this. All I got from her was, " I was just moving things around and now it's not working". Whatever that means. I actually know all the key and validation codes for the cd...My mother just cant seem to find the actual install cd itself. It's been rough for her lately and invoices need to go out in a day or so. PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME AND MY MOTHER

You asked in JULY, and it's now SEPTEMBER.
So, the simplest way out is to buy a new copy of Quickbooks.
It is a legitimate business-expense, so should be tax-deductible.
Import your data from the old version.
