When a rechargeable battery does not want to charge, it could be a bad charger, bad cable, bad battery or bad connectors. Or a combination of them. Please try to exclude every one, by using a replacement or spare, if you don't have a multimeter to check connections in cables and connectors.

My battery (EB falcon) won't charge. I have swapped out 2 alternators and have used 3 different car batteries which all hold charge but still no luck. Is there a relay that can inhibit the charging...

Check the voltage at the hot terminal of the alternator with the engine running. If less that 13 vdc, you are not getting field voltage to the alternator. If the voltage is more that 13 vdc, check voltage at battery. If same at battety, system is charging. If voltage at battery is lower than at the alternator, the charge wire or fuse is bad.

Battery charge rate drops below 3.8volts thus after a few months after replacing the battery starting can be difficult

If your charging rate is too low, then check the connections and wires to your alternator. Replace alternator if necessary.

Generator light came on. 1978 chevy caprice classic? Can I still drive it? How long before I have to fix it?

I probably means that its not re-charging your battery, you can drive it but it may stop running at any time possibly leaving you out in the middle of no where.

It could be the battery not accepting a charge, the alternator has failed or just the alternator belt is a bit loose or slipping.

My mini convertible roof leaks down the side just behind the back window, will it be covered under the warranty?

If the leak has been caused by a manufacturers defect and not by unusual weather conditions or damage from an accident, sharp object, mad ex, etc., yes , it should be something that Mini should fix at no charge.

Car and lawn tractors will start with booster cable and run. Once the ignition is turned off need a booster again. What is the problem. Batteries are showing charge?

lead acid (auto) type batteries cannot be left in a discharged state very long without damage ...if they have been discharged awhile then they will recharge but at greatly refuced capacity ... sometimes they can be recovered but usually its perminant damage .. even if the batteries can be saved it would still take several hours to recharge ...so leaving it on a charger overnight will show you if its a lost cause or not ...you can have the batteries "load tested" usuallly at auto parts stores for free .....they should be fully charged first to save time ...lead acid batteries should always be kept in a state of full charge ...never store them in a discharged condition or allow them to selff discharge (a discharged battery will freeze over the winter) ... charging once a month should keep them healthy .. more often in a car since the computer draws current all the time .. if you have a regulated charger then you can leave it connected all the time for storage ...high resistance battery connectios will have the same effect .. so remove and clean the battery terminals to eliminagte that possibility ... you can have your alternator tested at most auto parts stores ..usually free .. if you have maintainable batteries then check the water level . dont over fill .. use distilled water ...if your charging systems are ok then it sounds like you need new batteries ...

Won't start

Probability high:

Inverter drained your battery.

A "jump" was sufficient to start the vehicle.

After leaving the vehicle for X amount of time, you found it did not start ....because...............

A: potentially low electrolyte (fluid) in the battery which can cause various charging issues [including plate damage].
B: Did not drive long enough to charge the battery to a fundamental and useful state (low batteries take a longer time to charge).
C: bad battery plate

While you are at it, make sure you have no corrosion on the battery terminals; this dampens the effort of charging.

Should you have a meter, you can check the following;
battery voltage = 12VDC [car not running, ignition acc off]
battery charge voltage = 14.8 VDC [usually 120% of battery value] AND car running. This determines that your alternator is supplying the proper V.

Easiest thing to do; charge it over night with an external charging system. Also, you can drive your vehicle to many auto part stores and they will come out and troubleshoot the battery/charging system via an analyzer. This will tell you if your battery is sufficient or needs to be replaced.
