Peugeot 206 Engine Power Loss

I have a peugeot 206 1.1 look (petrol) and it has started to lose power. I am driving along and all of a sudden its like the engine stalls, all revs drop. The problem can be solved by turning the key as though to turn the engine off and then turning it back - although I dont need to turn the engine over again to get it going so the engine doesnt seem like it actually cuts out - just dies. If i leave it long enough and dont turn the key the engine then needs restarting....any ideas?

I was driving down today and after 20min the engine cut off and the car won't restart. The other day after driving for 25 min I parked the car, turned the engine off. An hour later, the refused to start. Though the next morning the car started without any problem. So, i seems like an intermittent fault. It's been to my local garage and they couldn't see any fault as the car started every time they tried.

1996 model when driving between 60 and 80 kmh the car has what I would call an opposite to a power surge, a drop in power. Nothing else is affected. Twice the engine has actually stopped but restarted.

What year is your car?
I would change the throttle position sensor and the stepper motors if it still gives you problems I would start looking at your ECU, it sounds like an electrical problem since the engine doesn't die completely or I would say clean your throttle body as well.

My peugeot 206 does not have power

Give more information. Loss of power can have many causes, depending on how and when you lose power. I no power from start, could be bad spark plugs, clogged intake or throttle position valve not opening properly, and that also for a number of reasons. You could also have a blocked exhaust - If you drove over a sharp hump and knocked the exhaust, it could cause a blockage.
If power is good on take -off and you lose power during driving, it could be your engine control module (ECM), either faulty or responding to a fault (check, or have a mechanic check) Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC's). Your car could be overheating, and the ECM is switching to limp mode, which feels like loss of power. This is designed to cut engine power to get you to a garage without further damaging your engine.

How do I know if my spark plugs need changing on a peugeot 206 cc

Your spark plugs provide the spark needed to get the petrol in your engine to burn. If a spark plug isn't working properly, it won't spark, so the fuel won't burn and the engine won't run properly. It will feel rough, you could lose power, have problems starting, etc.

For a 206 these should be changed roughly every 40,000 miles or 4 years, whichever comes first.

How you change them depends on your engine size, if you tell me I can give you the procedure. Or just take it to a garage, a new set of plugs cost around GBP16-24 depending which ones you buy, they shouldn't charge you much to fit them as it's a 15 minute job.

Peugeot 206 temperature gauge not working?

it could be a couple of things, first, check the wires to the temprature sender unit make sure they have not broke, as it was sudden this may be it, also it could be the sender unit it self as a freind of mine had with her car i changed that and the one for the radiator switch, but most of the time it will be something to do with the sender unit on the engine...hope this helps
