I have a peugeot 206 1.1 look (petrol) and it has started to lose power. I am driving along and all of a sudden its like the engine stalls, all revs drop. The problem can be solved by turning the key as though to turn the engine off and then turning it back - although I dont need to turn the engine over again to get it going so the engine doesnt seem like it actually cuts out - just dies. If i leave it long enough and dont turn the key the engine then needs restarting....any ideas?
What year is your car?
I would change the throttle position sensor and the stepper motors if it still gives you problems I would start looking at your ECU, it sounds like an electrical problem since the engine doesn't die completely or I would say clean your throttle body as well.
This is exactly the same problem am having with my 206 too. When driving, the revs will suddenly went off and power loss. Comes back only by turning off engine and turning it back.

I was driving down today and after 20min the engine cut off and the car won't restart. The other day after driving for 25 min I parked the car, turned the engine off. An hour later, the refused to start. Though the next morning the car started without any problem. So, i seems like an intermittent fault. It's been to my local garage and they couldn't see any fault as the car started every time they tried.
1996 model when driving between 60 and 80 kmh the car has what I would call an opposite to a power surge, a drop in power. Nothing else is affected. Twice the engine has actually stopped but restarted.
