I have had 2 different opinions from the plumbers, one being an expansion vessel.
Better check for leakage... or your spigot from expansion vessel is too short, it should be about 2m (7ft) above highest level...
you can lose some volume due to vaporisation of the water, but topping it - every year should be fine every few days - it is too much.
You probably have a leak in the system, internally in the boiler or in the external pipework or rads.

SOURCE: re-pressure Vaillant Turbomax Plus boiler
two pipes coming into boiler on right hand side have brass block valves with a small round recess. These two valves are linked with a stainless fill hose.
Inside the recess on each valve is a small slot, there is a "key" with the boiler but prob lost with the manual. The advantage of the key is its sized so you wont be poking it in the wrong place!
Using a screwdriver turn both slots throug 90 degrees, you will hear water running through. Sometimes one valve is left open so try a combination until the watert runs.
Keep an eye on the pressure gauge and dont let it get too high, if you have no idea of setting pressure head for about 1bar.

Hi Guy's,
The answer is that your system is out of water pressure.
Usually there is a nob on the right under the base of the unit near to the small dial to the right of the front cover.
To enable the system to work correctly the needle on this dial should be in the Grey, about midway position.
Currently with fault F22 this will be lower to below the Grey and on the needle.
To bring the pressure back to the correct position, you need to turn this nob until you hear the water entering the system, KEEP AN EYE ON THE DIAL AND TURN THE WATER OFF AGAIN WITH THIS NOB ONCE THE DIAL IS IN THE CORRECT GREY POSITION AS MENTIONED ABOVE. DO NOT OVER FILL THE SYSTEM. I suggest you check this every six months or so.
Once this is corrected your unit will light up again.
Best of luck. Mike. N.

Hi,
You have a faulty diverter valve, this is a fiddly job, you need to call in a 'Gas Safe' engineer to diagnose and replace this
I hope this helps
