I installed rear shoes on an 03 grand vitara taking care to re-assemble what i thought was exactly how they came apart. however within 500 miles they adjusted themselves to the point that the vehicle...

this is a double post Robert, but is 04 then 03??
it got younger in minutes.
i answered in depth on the 04 by you.
brake job, not break ,
and do not break your brakes. (you did)
a good way to remember that. huh?

self adjusters are the magic, they can be horrible to get right.
i bet the ebrake is set wrong, its set for worn shoes.
WAS it?
if yes the auto adjusters will fail, the FSM is clear on that.

when you set the ebrake, to loose, 5-7 clicks at the handle
this 100% releases the auto adjusters.
if not the adjusters fail, or if ok the above.
then the adjusters them self are bad (rusted) or assembled wrong.

I have a Kipor KDE 3500T set. When running under load, after warming up, the engine "hunts" to find the correct speed, and one can see the governor lever moving in time to the rising and falling...

Hi, I hope I can help a little bit. The hunting by the governor like can be caused either by governor adjustment or carb adjustment might be the culprit. But before you go into that, have you checked and cleaned the air filter or looked at the carburetor that might need cleaning if it has been awhile since that was addressed? If you figure that is alright try adjusting the carb first. I have never seen or heard about that brand of machine before, so I will give you a general adjust procedure. I will stress again to check everything you can think of first. The fuel tank has to be vented and on most machines this is done by the tank cap so make sure that is OK. Is the filter on the fuel outlet of your tank not obstructing the fuel flow and that the fuel lines are in good shape and not starting to deteriorate inside and slowing fuel flow?
To adjust the carb make small 1/8 of a turn at a time. Before starting the engine turn each one of the low and high clockwise or in until lightly seated so the needle seat is not damaged and remember that setting, even mark it down so you can always come back to that setting. The low or idle mixture screw should be about 1 turn out or counterclockwise more or less. The high mixture screw can be anywhere from 3/4 to 1 1/2 turns out or counterclockwise. Do not adjust the high mixture screw less than about 3/4 turn from the seated position. When you turn these screws in or clockwise it lets in less fuel to air and could make it run too hot.
Start with the high speed mixture screw and turn 1/8 of a turn out and listen what happens. If not better do that again up to one full turn in 1/8 increments. No good results try the low speed or idle mixture screw in 1/8 increments and see what happens. If no good try with the two at the same time.
There is one more screw and that one is on top of the carb and adjusts the idle or low speed of the engine with no load and is also very important to adjust the right idle RPM so that when a load is turned on it has enough RPM so the engine has enough so it does not start to miss and sputter because of turning too slow.
I have given you all this info without knowing if this is the right type carburetor or if this engine is gas or diesel, or is a barrel type carb.so I hope this helps you out even just a bit. All the best and good luck. By the way I will not even try to explain the governor setup as It is too lenghty and I don't want to make it run worse or not at all.
Maybe one of the other guys might have a simple procedure to get it done. Well good luck and all the best to you.

How do i adjust my headlingt on a 2001 suzuki xl7

The adjustment screws/nuts should be located either on the top of the headlamp assembly, behind the headlamp assembly, or near the frame rail by the radiator support.

You will have vertical adjustment screws for each independent beam (separate highs and separate lows, but will be same screw if highs and lows are the same bulb). You may also have additional horizontal adjustment screws as well

Park your car on a level ground 30 feet from a wall and measure the height from the ground to the bulb and mark on a wall (do this for highs beams and low beams if the bulbs are separate, if highs and lows are the same bulb, only do it for the lows)

For Low Beams: If the headlights read VOR, then aim the brightest part or cutoff part just below the mark on the wall. If it says VOL or nothing, aim them 2 inches below the mark on the wall.

For High Beams (if separate from low beams): Aim the headlight directly at the line you marked on the wall.

How do i adjust carb on 84 cj 7 it is running rich and has some black smoke

The first thing to do is make sure that the problem is not the choke butterfly. Make sure it is opening all the way because a partially open choke can mimic improper idle screw adjustment, letting it run rich. If the choke is good then you will find the idle adjustment screws at the front of your carb. They are under the float bowl almost touching the intake manifold. This is easy to screw up so be careful and take your time. Turn both screws equally, the same way and the same amount. Use 1/4 turns and try running the engine after each 1/4 turn. Rev the engine up 2 or 3 times and let it come back to idle.If it stalls then turn it up a bit so it doesn't. You may have to adjust your RPM if it idles to low at the throttle linkage. There will be a screw stop there for that purpose, turn it in to speed up and out to slow down. It's a trial and error exercise even for professionals so take your time. Hope this helps.

How do i adjust my rear suspension , i want to make it softer and if i make it too soft how do i make it harder again

Looking the service manual on an 04 shows two seperate adjustment screws.  One for adjusting the rebound dampening and the other for adjusting the compression dampening of your rear shock.  The front has the same set up for each side of the fork.  (2 pistons in front and 1 in back).  If you look at the top of the rear shock on the right side of the bike, you should see an adjustment screw.  That is the compression dampening screw.  You should feel a definate click when you turn the screw to let you know how much you have changed it.  Looking toward the bottom of the shock, you should see a screw labeled RBN.  That is the rebound dampening adjustment.  I would adjust the compression dampening first and then the rebound.  Compression takes care of the initial part of the bump while the rebound slows the shock on the return to neutral.  If the rebound is set to high, you will feel like the bike is trying to toss you off the bike like a bull.  If the compression is too high, you will feel like somebody is kicking you in the arse.
Hope this helped.  You should be able to find that 04 KX 250 service manual at: http://www.repairmanualclub.com/motomanuals/ I know you have an 06, but I'm sure it's very similar.
Good Luck

High geared chainsaw

Hi 1tgriffin,
My name is Dennis and I hope that will serve your needs.
IDLE ADJUSTMENTS:
There are three adjustment screws on the carburetor labeled
H (for High speed MIXTURE)
L (for low speed MIXTURE)
T (for idle SPEED SETTING)
They are located just above the primer bulb. If your saw floods so soon in the starting process the idle mixture setting can be set too rich and the speed may be set too slow. Remember the chain will not move when the idle speed is set correctly with a WARM ENGINE!
Adjust the idle speed to just below chain movement WITH A WARM ENGINE this is just below the activation RPM of the centrifugal clutch. Let the engine run at a higher speed than idle until it is warm -- 3 min -- you may have to keep goosing it until then.
Please don't exceed the limits of the plastic limiters when making adjustments.
If you haven't adjusted the mixture screws you may just have to adjust the idle speed and that can start my turning that screw all the way in to the stop and then back out 4-1/2 turns for a good place to start. FAST IDLE -- Adjust the speed until the engine runs with out the chain moving. Adjust clockwise to increase speed. C clockwise to decrease engine speed.
Accelerate the engine and if it stumbles and makes too much smoke it's too rich turn the
LOW SPEED MIXTURE (in) clockwise in 1/16 a turn increments NO MORE at a time because a two cycle needs to run at a setting for a short time to really prove the setting. don’t run it wide open to warm it up but it should be at a fast idle. Nothing you do will be proven correct until the engine is warm.
Good Luck
Glad to be of assistance - please rate the solution because I will learn from your rating. Thank you
