How do I password protect this router?

You want to set a password for the configuration utility INSIDE the router or set up a password secured WIFI network??
You should eventually do both. Both are accomplished via the web interface. Point your browser at my.router or 192.168.1.1 (if your network is "normal" for a home network).
User ID is admin Password is on a sticker on the router.

I just installed the internet at home from mediacom and i needed to plug my d-link router to have a wireless network at home and i dont have the configuration disk for my router and i dont know how to make...

You NEVER need that CD-ROM disk. :-)

Use an Ethernet cable to connect from a LAN port on the router to the network-port on your computer.

Click Start.
Click Run.
Type CMD
Press Enter.
Type IPCONFIG
Press Enter.
Look for output similar to:
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.123.456
Start Internet Explorer.
Type http://192.168.123.456 (or whatever value that you saw).
Login to the router (ID: admin, password: [blank]).
Click to run the "Wireless Networking Setup Wizard".
Enter an SSID.
Choose an encryption-level (use: 'WPA').
Choose a password for your wireless network.
Save the changes.

Disconnect the Ethernet cable, and click "View Available Wireless Networks". Connect to the SSID that you chose, and enter the password.

Don't know the username to "http://192.168.0.1" router Level One.

If you have never changed this from default then the user name will be "admin" & the password will be "password" or "admin. If you google the default password for Your router model then that shoud find it if this does not work. Don't forget to rate me if this works for you.
