I have a C5180 all in one printer that has been used on an Apple system. I'm trying to install on a Win 7 64 bit and the printer keeps cycling and shutting off

Before jumping into resolving the issue, assuming a technical failure, make sure the Auto-off feature on your printer is not enabled. This feature, in order to save power, turns off the printer automatically after a set period of inactivity.
1 Check the Scheduled On and Off or the Auto Power Off feature on the control panel of the printer.
2 Alternately, you can check the feature through the printer software installed on your Windows operating system. Open HP Printer Assistant, and give a double-click on the Maintain your printer option.
3 Click the Advanced Settings tab in the Toolbox window. Change the settings if necessary and follow the prompts on the screen.
When you are sure that the Auto-off feature is not the cause, try carrying out the steps given below.
1. Restart your printer
• Turn on the printer and give it some time to become silent.
• Unplug the power cord from the printer. The printer should be turned on while unplugging the cord.
• Remove the power cord from the electrical wall outlet.
• Wait for at least a minute and reconnect the power cord to the wall outlet and to the printer's rear.
• Turn the printer on if it does not automatically turn on.
• Wait until the printer is idle and check if the issue is resolved.
• If the printer shutsdown again, continue with the steps.
2. Update the printer firmware
• Check if the printer is properly connected to your computer.
• Go the manufacturer's website and click Printer.
• Enter the printer model and click Submit.
• Select the version of your operating system and click Change.
• Select Firmware and click Download. If you do not see a firmware section, there is no update for your printer.
• Save the downloaded file to a storage location on your computer and run the files.
• Look for the printer's serial number in the HP Printer Update window.
• If the printer's serial number is displayed, click the checkbox against it. Click Cancel if the status is 'not applicable'. If you have set up the printer on a wireless network and the serial number is not displayed, connect the printer and your computer using a USB cable, wait for about 20 seconds and Click Refresh. Once the printer's serial number is displayed, select the checkbox beside it and click Update.
• Click OK once the update is complete.
• Remove the USB driver installed on your Windowsif you have connected a USB cable to update your network printer.
3. Make sure the printer is directly plugged into the power outlet
• Turn the printeroff.
• Unplug the printer power cord from the power strip or surge suppressor.
• Check for any wear or damage in the power cord.
• Wait for at least 30 seconds and plug the power cord directly into electrical wall outlet.
• Power on the printer.
4. Check if other devices are not causing the issue
• Disconnect the USB hub from the printer and connect the USB cable directly to the printer and computer.
• Remove any memory card or USB drives from the printer.
• Restart the printer.
5. Connect the printer to a different electrical outlet
Unplug the power cord from the printer and an electrical wall outlet, and reconnect it to another electrical outlet.
6. Try replacing your power module
7. Service your printer
If all the preceding steps did not help, contact your manufacturer to get your printer serviced. for HP Printer support Call Our Toll Free 1-866-293-9220 or visit 123 hp com setup Support Free Driver Download 123 hp com Wireless

Hp laserjet 1020 meltdown

Hi,

Try this out:

Some printers require time to turn on. These printers may or may not give feedback in the form of blinking light(s). Wait up to a minute for the power light to come on before proceeding with the steps below. Instructions If the printer uses a power adapter (module), follow the instructions below. If the printer uses only a power cord, see the section below entitled “ If the printer uses only a power cord .” If the printer uses a power module Follow the steps below to ensure power is properly supplied to the printer:
  1. Check the power module part number against the part number listed in the User’s Guide to ensure the proper power adapter is being used.
  2. Disconnect the power cord or adapter from the wall outlet.
  3. Disconnect the printer data cable from the printer.
  4. Disconnect the power cord from the printer, wait thirty seconds, then reconnect the power cord to the printer.
  5. Disconnect the power cord from the power module and reconnect the power cord to the power module. This may not be necessary if the power module has a permanently attached power cord.
  6. Reconnect the power cord directly into a working wall outlet. If the power cord was plugged into a surge protector or power strip, plug the power cord directly into a wall outlet instead. NOTE: "The HP Photosmart 8100, 8400, and HP Deskjet 6000 series printer power cords feature a green LED built into the power plug. If the LED is not glowing, the power module may have failed. Proceed to step 7 below.
  7. If the printer still will not turn on or the power LED built into the power cord is not glowing, plug the printer into a wall outlet in another room. If the printer or power LED turns on when connected to an electrical outlet in another room, there is a problem with the power in the original room.
  8. If there is still no power to the printer, then the power module, cord, or printer may be defective. Try the power module/cord on another HP Deskjet or Photosmart printer, of the same model if possible, to see if the power module is functioning. If the power LED is still not glowing, the power module may be defective. Replace the power module and cord.
  9. If the power module/cord works on the other printer, then this printer is defective. Service your printer.
  10. If you cannot determine whether the problem is the printer or the power module/cord, or if another printer is not available to test with, replace the power module/cord first. If this does not resolve the issue, service your printer.
If the printer uses only power cord Follow the steps below to ensure power is properly supplied to the printer:
  1. Check the power module part number against the part number listed in the User’s Guide to ensure the proper power adapter is being used.
  2. Disconnect the power cord from the wall outlet.
  3. Disconnect the printer data cable from the printer.
  4. Disconnect the power cord from the printer, wait thirty seconds, then reconnect the power cord to the printer.
  5. Reconnect the power cord directly into a working wall outlet. If the power cord was plugged into a surge protector or power strip, plug the power cord directly into a wall outlet instead.
  6. If the printer still will not turn on, plug the printer into a wall outlet in another room. If the printer turn on when connected to an electrical outlet in another room, there is a problem with the power in the original room.
  7. If there is still no power to the printer, then the power cord or printer may be defective. Try the power cord on another HP Deskjet or Photosmart printer to see if the power cord is functioning.
  8. If the power cord does not work on the other printer, it is defective. Replace the power cord.
  9. If the power cord works on the other printer, then this printer is defective. Service your printer.
  10. If another printer is not available to test with, carefully inspect the power cord for damage.
  11. Inspect the power cord for visible damage. If the power cord is damaged, replace the power cord first. If this does not resolve the issue, or if the power cord looks fine, then service your printer.

Goodluck,

No power

If it is not getting any power at all, only one of three things: cord is fried/dead; could be the outlet, try something else in the same socket; or, the board in the printer is dead.
1. Press the POWER button to power on the printer The device has a <POWER> button.
Connect the power cord from the printer to the electrical source.
Press the <POWER> button.
Wait until the device has completed its cycling process before submitting a print request or completing installation.

2. Disconnect and Reconnect AC power adapter or power cord to the device and electrical source
  • Disconnect the AC Power Adapter or power cord from both the device and the electrical source.
  • Then reconnect it.
  • If you are still unable to obtain power to the device, try another power outlet.
  • If possible, try connecting power directly to a wall outlet (as opposed to using a surge protector or power strip...just as a troubleshooting measure).
3. Disconnect and reconnect the electrical cord to ensure a secure connection 4. The iP6000D may require repair

Printer will not power up

1) Verify the power cord is plugged into both the printer and an electrical outlet.
2) Try a known working electrical outlet.
3) Try a different power cord if available.

If none of the above work then you may have a bad printer that needs replaced.

Dryer not working

Assuming the problem is associated with you changing the cord, it sounds like you have a wire crossed on the power cord. Double check how you have the cord installed first. If that is correct check your power to the dryer. Since you changed the type of cord, I assume you have had outlet replaced or have just moved to new house. If you have a fuse box instead of a breaker box, check your fuses. It takes two fuses for the dryer. If one of them blows, the motor will run but you wont get heat. The motor runs on 120 but it needs 240 for the element. I can't count how many people have bought a new dryer just to find out they only had a house fuse blown and nothing was wrong with their old dryer. If you have had wall outlet changed there could be a wire crossed in it.
