My dryer does the same as well. None of the lights come on when pushing buttons on the control panel, however the light comes on when the door is open. And yes, it is plugged in. What should I do?

I have the exact same problem as "Speedball." Light's on; nobody home.

I have the same problem with my GEW9250PW dryer. Light is on inside the dryer but none of the controls are working.

Drum light works, panel does not.

This happened after we lost power to our house and the power was restored.

Same problem. Some of the small lights are on too, but nothing of course works. Repairman said it's the computer inside the control panel, part is costing us $298.00. On top of it, there is nothing to prevent this from happening again - it can happen anytime there is a power outage, and you cannot use a surge protector with the dryer plug.

I just got my Duet Sport today and the guys hooked it up. Plugged it in, inside light worked but control panel didn't.

I have an older whirlpool dryer. The dryer is not doing anything at all. When I push the button it does not do anything.

When we got ours it had the same problem. A service call would have taken days so I simply unplugged the unit (safety first!), and removed the top (a number of sheet metal screws). In the front left I noticed a couple of "ribbon" cables and one was hanging loose (obviously NOT connected). I looked around and located where it was supposed to be connected and snapped it in. Plugged the unit in and Voila! all worked. Unplugged unit again, put the top back on and everything has worked since then.

ONLY DO THIS IS YOU HAVE THE TECHNICAL EXPERTISE AND MAKE CERTAIN YOU UNPLUG THE UNIT BEFORE ANY ATTEMPT.

Whirlpool GEW9200 dryer makes loud whining noise...

It might be metal on metal. It is possible that something worked it's way from inside the drum it between the drum and the rest of the dryer. There's just a couple of srcews that holds the back and top on to the dryer. Take them out after un-plugging the dryer, and consider plugging it back in and running it to see if you can here where the squeek is coming from.
