Why are my fridge and freezer to warm?

My GE GSS25XSNA freezer and fridge are to warm. Typically I have level 2 set for both compartments and the unit works well with this. Until last week. There was a lot of loose ice on the goods in the freezer and the product was thawed. It almost looked like it snowed in there. But not excessive ice on the wall or back. So l took everything out and turned the unit off for a day. After this manual defrost I turned it back on and the Freezer cooled down to about 0, and then warmed back up to about 10 to 15 and stayed. So yesterday l unplugged the unit again and opened the back panel in the freezer and looked at the Coils. No ice buildup. Everything is dry. I also looked at the back of the freezer and cleaned it. The fan in the back runs, as is the fan inside. I ran the unit overnight and it Cooled down to about 3. Today in the morning it was up again to about 10. Temp. setting was at level 5 for freezer and fridge. Any idea what causes the warming and what repair will avoid this behavior? Any input welcome. Thanks in advance. Thomas

Sounds to me like your freon is low. That is the gas fridges use to cool things down.
I may be wrong but I would get a repair man to check the freon pressure first.. Low freon is caused by a small leak in one of the lines or in the compressor its self. I had an old fridge and the freon went low just over time.and had to be topped up.

My GE Profile French door refrigerator won't cool under 47' Fahrenheit?

Here are some possible causes and solutions to consider:

1. Check the temperature settings: Ensure that the temperature settings are set to the recommended levels for your refrigerator. You can refer to the user manual or manufacturer's website for the recommended temperature range. The target range is between 35-38°F

2. Clean the condenser coils: Dirty or clogged condenser coils can prevent the refrigerator from cooling properly. Clean the condenser coils located at the back or bottom of the refrigerator using a vacuum or brush.

3. Check the evaporator fan: The evaporator fan circulates cool air throughout the refrigerator and normally runs constantly. If it's not functioning correctly, it can cause the refrigerator to stop cooling. Check that the fan is running and for any obstructions or damage and replace it if necessary.

4. Check the door seals: The door seals ensure that the refrigerator is properly sealed, preventing warm air from entering. Check the seals for any cracks, gaps or damage and replace them if necessary.

5. On many Fridge Freezers, the cold air for the fridge is vented from the freezer side into the fridge. If the freezer coils ice up or block due to faulty defrosting, it can cause no cold air to reach the fridge compartment.

6. Checking the refrigerant gas levels: If the refrigerant levels are low, the refrigerator will not cool properly. Only qualified technician can check the refrigerant levels and add more if necessary.

GE Profile Refridgerator side warm, freezer ok?

Fridge gets cold air from freezer to cool it. Your freezer is fine but not enough cold air is getting into fridge compartment. U have some dampers or louvers that direct air flow to fridge and if they are not set properly cooling will not be adequate. Check those out.

Hi, I'm Mark.
Check the position of the two controls at the top of the unit inside the fresh food compartment. SET BOTH controls to the 12 o'clock position. Wait about a hour, then check temperatures. Then wait another hour and check temperatures again. Record the values on a piece of paper. When you do check fridge temperatures, do so quickly as the compartments become warm just a few seconds after the doors are opened. Please let me know what happens to the fresh food readings.
Thanks, Best Regards,
Mark

Fridge freezer kept in cold garage. Freezer works from time to time but fridge stopped work. Could it be a thermostat problem or due to temperature of garage?

The problem is with the garage temperature. The temperature sensor for the refrigerator is in the fridge compartment, but the evap coils are in the freezer. Refrigerators were designed to work in an air conditioned space. When they are put into unheated spaces, it does not work well. The fridge thermostat typically is set to 40 deg F. If the outside temperature is close to that, then it does not turn on the compressor as much so the freezer will have a hard time staying below freezing.

There are garage refrigerator kits for people who put fridges in un heated garages in the winter. They just simple electric heaters that warm the fridge's thermostat to cause the compressor to run more often. This helps the fridge to maintain temperatures better in the freezer compartment. The same thing can be accomplished by putting a small wattage bulb in the refrigerator compartment. Just remember to remove it during the warm weather otherwise you will pay a large electricity bill in the summer months.

42'' monogram getting very hot between doors and in unit above

This is typical for frost-free refridgerators/freezers. In order to keep ice from buiding up on the interior walls of the freezer section, the manufacturer installs electric defrosting elements and extra "warming" elements in the outer edges of the cabinet, normally around the door openings to help mitigate any frost/ice build up and surface condensation that typically occurs on the exterior surfaces as the doors are opened and closed frequently.

These edge warmers stay very warm to keep ice and condensation from accumulating and will become VERY very warm (hot) when the fridge/freezer is in the once a day defrost cycle.

Unless you have an energy saver switch (GE trademark) inside the fridge section, which you can turn off, there is no way to disable these added elements. If you find that you're getting ice building up in the freezer, you'll need to turn off the energy saver switch to resolve that issue.

Energy Saver switch "ON" means these elements are off, while having the ES switch "OFF" means those heaters are running all the time and costing you more in energy consumption

Freezer working, fridge not

Possibilities include inside fan unit not running for some reason, thermostat cycling the unit off before its cold, compartment light staying on, damper adjustment set too warm or broken or blocked. There are others but less likely.
