New to me. Received it today. Acts like something is blocking the function of the needle raising and lowering. Embroidery bar works, just not the needle mechanism.
I used this machine in my middle school classroom. That message was in the first start up of the machine, I think it just resets the machine. The larger model also has a beginning reset button that just adjusts the arm of the machine. Is the machine working fine after the reset? Hopefully "sew"
Testimonial: "The motor noise is loud enough to know something isn't right. It sounds like the needle is trying to move but something is stopping it. Then the safety message comes up on the screen."

Did you try to take the embroidery unit off and restart the machine? Does it work regular sewing without the embroidery unit? Can you turn the handwheel so that the needle makes a full rotation? Is it a brand new machine? DO you have the manual? The manual is available for download on the brother site. Sorry I can't be of more help

dmissall Yes, I took embroidery unit off and tried restarting it. I tried several different ways of restarting it. The machine is an Embroidery Only. I turned needle by hand but I still get the revving sound. The safety warning isn't coming on anymore. That was a great question/suggestion. Yes I have the manuel. Any more questions or comments are welcome.
Also, when I was moving the machine to look for obvious damage, I heard what sounded like something broke off and moving around. It was coming from the same area as the revving noise.
Can it be returned? It does sound like something is amiss. Does it sew? I had the previous model in the classroom, it did sew regular sewing, but I only used it for embroidery. It really was a workhorse! I hope you can return it and start fresh. Good Luck
