Won't take pictures after batteries died

I was taking snaps and missed the low battery signals, so sudden got the red battery icon and auto-closeout. Replaced the batteries with brand new fresh ones. Now when I power up the lens cap retracts, the lens extends and the screen shows whatever I'm aiming at, but if I depress the shutter button, the thing freezes up with the lens extended and the screen view closes down. Also cannot delete images from the card.
Took card and new batteries out, waited overnight, reassembled, no improvement.

Well, I am delighted to say I have the solution, but feel silly. It turns out my "brand new fresh batteries" weren't. When I actually got truly fresh batteries, everything returned to normal function. Many thanks to the patient camera guys in my neighborhood who helped me figure it out, wouldn't charge me. The best I could do was buy some new rechargable batteries from them for $12 - and make sure I continue to buy locally whenever I can to support small local businesses.

Make sure when you put new batteries in a camera especially, that you use a good name brand. I've put generic batteries in mine from one of the warehouse clubs, only to get 3 or 4 pictures. When I put in good batteries, I can get a few hundred pics.

12 RES - Control Panel Dead With New Battery

If it won't start in manual, you have a short and/or a bad control board. Make sure battery polarity is correct, did you disconnect battery charger before removing old battery? If not charger can push DC volts over 20V and can damage control board.

The batt. may be not good. Take to most any parts place, they usually will
check the batt. condition for free,of course if bad will try to sell you a new
one.

Suspect dirty battery terminals that may need to be cleaned, or bent upwards, to improve contact with the batteries. Troubleshooting tips for this problem may be seen here.

Take it over to a Auto Zone store they advertize that they will read the diagnostic cods for free. with the check engine light on there are codes logged in the cpu. the codes will point you in the direction to go. this will save you lots of time.

Battery level

As Suzaku explained:
A battery icon will show up on the LCD screen of your camera when it is already low and needs recharging. It can be found at the lower right side of your LCD screen. The ready light of your camera will also blink red and your camera will turn off if the battery is exhausted.
NOTE:
The icon will not appear if the batery is sufficient and there is no TECH way of making the icon show until the batt needs charging.

Red light continually flashes, and won't take picture

Set the camera to anything except no flash. Turn it off. Take out the battery. Wait 5-10 seconds. Put the battery back in. The flash should now work until you turn the camera off again (and then you must remove/replace the battery to get the flash working again).

The flash requires some kind of "master reset" to work. Haven't found a permanent solution to this.

Battery will not hold a charge.

Casio says:

Red blinking light = defective battery

No flashing light = possible defective charger.

What you can do is send all your stuff into casio and they will test everything for you and see what they could replace for you.
