Limp home - Target Follow Malfunction Your vehicle has gone into "limp" mode for some unknown reason. This particular code needs special attention from your local dealership and/or your favorite garage that handles things of this nature. Sorry I couldn't have been any better help than this but I hope you get it resolved. Turn IGN to ON/RUN but don't start engine
Fully depress pedal 3 times within a total of 5-secs

If you have the Driver information center
Turn IGN to ON/RUN but don't start engine
Press the DIC menu button until Remaining Oil life displays
Press and hold the set/clear button until 100% displays
Turn the key to OFF

If you mean how to install timing belt, I'm not sure on your corrolla, but on my old tercel I turned the crank pulley so that cylinder 1 was at its top height (by feeling with a screwdriver in sparkplug hole) then turned valve pulley until first valve was open (with valve cover off) then aligned the timing belt that way. It didn't work. Then I realized that the cylinder has 2 top positions, one for "compress" stroke and one for "push out exhaust", so I turned crank again to bring cylinder one to top height, aligned belt, and it worked, car started.

Then I realized that crankshaft pulley had a ''timing mark'' (a kind of little notch) on it and that it aligned perfectly with a mark on engine, just to prove that I had done it right, "by hand".

Hi Alicia with the Grand Am...:) Can you start your Grand Am by jump starting from another car and battery? First check cable connections on the battery...if dirty or corroded (even broken) the connection will not support the cranking power and will not turn over the motor...also inspect the battery to see if the battery casing is swollen...this is a sign the battery cells are wearing, and a battery replacement is necessary...be sure to have your battery checked ( a free service at most auto parts stores) before you could be stranded...Hope this helps.

"ETS OFF" Indicator Lamp On with No DTC's Set Models:
1996 Buick Skylark
1996 Chevrolet Cavalier
1996 Oldsmobile Achieva
1996 Pontiac Grand Am, Sunfire On vehicles equipped with Enhanced Traction System (ETS), the "ETS OFF" indicator lamp may come on and ETS and Cruise Control might become disabled. There may be no ABS or PCM Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC's) stored and there may be no "Check Engine" lamp on. This condition has caused a high rate of unnecessary IPC replacements.
The PCM sets a Type "C" or "D" FAILURE RECORD which sends a message to the Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) to turn the "ETS OFF" indicator on and to disable ETS. The PCM can then disable Cruise Control, but may not turn on a corresponding "Check Engine" lamp. These Type "C" or "D" Failure Records are not stored in the normal Current or History menus.

The technician is instructed to check normal operation of the "ETS OFF" switch and the ETS system. The technician is then instructed to check for Failure Records and directed to Section 6E3-A of the Service Manual, see chart. When the PCM Failure Record is corrected, normal operation of the ETS system and Cruise Control should return.

The click was the starter solenoid, first sign that it could go out any time, you might want to think about replacing it, more so with your second line of work, good luck.

The ETS limp home valve may be on. Clean the throttle body and intake runners with intake cleaner with engine running. Then do a ETS initialization as follows:

ETS INITIALIZATION PRCEDURE:
Turn the ignition key to the ON position (for less than one second) and quickly turn the ignition key back to the OFF position.
Wait 10 seconds in off position.The ETS Module performs the INITIALIZATION process and at completion you will hear a click from under dash. Turn the key on for 1 second then start the vehicle.

Likely time to change your brake pads which is the most common cause for the ETS light to start emitting on non all wheel drive vehicles.
