Question about HP Compaq Presario V2000 Notebook
I have tried every option the resolvers and none work and it just keeps going back to windows could not complete the installation to install Windows on this computer restart the installation which goes nowhere but logging off
Bad RAM usually causes the computer to crash during the process. An orderly failure to complete the installation usually means a bad hard drive.

If you have a restore partition on the drive it should come up when you press F11 during the boot. If this is not possible the a clean install should work. I have found that the drive needs to be wiped clean before the install. I use a program called "Kill-Disk", however there are others available. Each time Windows starts an install it creates several other partitions and this clears them. Also as mentioned by another is to check your RAM modules.

I wish I could tell you exactly how I did it, but I can't. I pushed the function buttons (F5, F8, F12, F anything) over and over and over...and over... again after pushing the power button until I accidentally wound up on a page that gave me the option to do a factory reset. For me, this wasn't a problem, because I wanted the laptop clean to sell anyway. I did the reset and the computer started right up.

Your issue is related to data corruption of some kind. During a windows install this can be caused by one or more of the following. Failing hard drive, bad RAM, faulty cd drive of badly scratched windows install disk. If you attempted to do a factory restore on the laptop and are getting that message I would say its probably either a failing hard drive or a faulty RAM module.

SOURCE: hp laptop froze
I understand that notebooks boots into safemode, but when you are trying to reinstall the OS it is freezing, let me assist you in this regard.
As the notebook is frezing while installing the OS, first we need to check the Harddrive.
In DV6000 notebooks, there will be option to do Harddrive selft test.
1 Restart the notebook
2. At HP logo screen keep pressing the F10 key to open BIOS.
3. In the BIOS you can find the Diagnose Tab. (Select it)
4. Under that click on harddrive self test.
If the test pass, you need another set of recovery disks to Restore notebook to factory settings.
If the test fails, then you need to replace the harddrive.
If the notebook is under warranty, then you will get new harddrive from HP.

since the system got dropped off, different components would have been affected. From the information that you have provided, the LCD and motherboard appears to be two of the affected components. Since it is difficult to determine all the components that may have been affected by the accident, I would suggest contacting HP for support and ask if there is a repair center where you can take your computer for thorough testing. If you have an HP diagnostics utility, connect an external monitor to your computer and run the diagnostics. Note any error codes of beep codes which can help isolate the situation.

When you reinstall xp you will not have to reformat the drive. Just reinstall the operating system. As long as you are in safe mode back up what you need to then reinstall xp.
If you need more help let me know.
