FAC-FC7 DVD player is locked and the Standby indicator flashes

My FAC-FC7 DVD player is locked and will not change or eject discs. When I attempt to turn it off, the Standby indicator flashes without turning off so I must unplug the power cord.

I am having the same problem as well. I have all but given up as sony's tech service line states that local repairs run $180.00 just to check the machine. There has to be another solution.

I have the same problem as dvd getting stuck into the player and it is not coming out.

I wanted to know if there is a solution to the whole problem and also if there is a solution to take the stuck dvds out.

Also was wondering if sony can fix this by giving an upgrade of its firmware or something or this is non-recoverable hardware failure

I have the same problem you describe as well. What are we supposed to do. DVD will not play, will not eject and will not power off. Just the standby flashes until I unplug.

I have the same problem that all these people!

Exact same problem. Anyone found a solution yet? My manual says the flashing STANDBY indicator may have something to do with the ventilation holes being blocked. My unit is in my motorhome and has a Directv receiver on top of it and they are in a cabinet. Worked fine for three years, and suddenly today, problems. My unit was hot to the touch. I've unplugged it and waited for it to cool down, but same problem.

I had the same problem and searched FIX and found a solution for a Phillips DVD player that worked on my Sony DAV-FC7 dvd player. Someone posted that they called their Phillips Tech Service and was told to (a) unplug the dvd unit from the wall and wait 20 seconds, then (b) press the standby+plug the unit back into the wall at the same time and hold for 10 seconds. I did this for my Sony DAV-FC7 which would not power on nor eject (just red light on). IT WORKED!! after doing these steps, my SONY powered on and the rented DVD ejected. The dvd palyer works again. Thanks fellow FIXYA "posters".

This Sony Dream Theater DAV FC-7 has never worked good for me. Stand by always locking it up and having to unplug it just to get it started again. Had 2 Sony Cybershot cameras go bad on me in less than 1 year. Will NEVER buy a sony product ever again.

I had this problem about 6 months after I bought the unit. Sent it back to sony 3 times (future shop) and they finally got it so when I turn the unit off and one the stand-by only flashes about 3 times (2 seconds)

I have had the same problem and seem to have fixed it by pressing Power+Eject+Stop buttons simultaneously for a few seconds then releasing. After about 20 seconds the disc mysteriously ejected and the system works again. My experience is that the system is very sensitive to 1) heat so keep it exposed and not in a enclosed space (as I had) and 2) faulty CDs - they will jam the system. Hope this works for all of you.

These FC7 will need to be serviced by an authorized Sony service depot. This problem can not be repaired by the average consumer.

My Sony dvp sr500h will not let me eject the disc and it displays Locked on the scree. How do I unlock it ?

The Blue Ray is just like a CD or DVD player.
If you have a disk in the unit and it will not eject through your my computer, find a paper clip and streghten it to about one inch.
On the face of the player, you will find a small hole. Insert the paper clip in the hole until you find the step. Bush forward and the door should open.

Dvd player will not eject or play dvd. It just keeps spinning and says "reading." I've tried unplugging for 2 minutes, pushing close/open and stop at the same time(hold for at least 3 seconds)....

Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet and turn the player ON. Attempt to open the disc tray. Depending on the model number of your DVD player, simultaneously press the POWER + STOP + EJECT buttons. If the disc tray still does not open, simultaneously press the DISC1 + STOP + EJECT buttons.6 Jan 2013

Dvd player will not open disc, display lock

Sound like it either has one or two problems, the door is stuck and or the door eject motor has failed. Look in the front to the player for a small paperclip like hole, and use a paper clip to manual eject the and engage the loading mechanism usually located under the door for most cases. Check you manuals troubleshooting section for manually ejecting a CD..

I have a xv n330 dvd player and it says lock when I try to take out the dvd in the player and it says lock.

When you press the eject botton while pressing down the stop botton on the unit in
standby mode, the tray lock function is activated. The disc tray
cannot be opened or closed in this status. To release this
status, press the eject botton while pressing down the stop botton on the unit in standby
mode.
