Hi Twitike24,
Have you tried turning the printer off and on?If so,fully disconnect the printer and restart your PC.Connect again and then switch it on.Problem solved?
If not,try re-installing the printer drivers again. You can download from this
Hp support site in case you don't have the installation disks.

Hope this helps.Thanks!

Tried upgrading Canon iPF710 firmware from 1.35 to 1.40 on 2 separate plotters and received a !Error E196-4040 Call for service message. Plotter will not come to a Online status.

Power off and unplug the printer for several minutes. On power on the printer had the same "ERROR E196-4040 Call For Service" after Initialization. Next start the printer in Service Mode, turn on the printer while holding down the [Paper Source/Feeder Selection] button and [Information] button until Initializing appeared in the display. An "S" will appear in the upper right of the version display. Power down and do a normal Power On and the printer should do a normal initialization and came On Line.

Not initializing the hp mfp4730

Normal 0 Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and reinstall the CD software program that came with the printer. When the software program asks you to connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.
Hope this helps. Bud

PostScript Initializing

Frequently you can clear that code by disconnecting and reconnecting the plugs to the document feeder/scanner and processor.
Mostly the molex connector that runs from the scanner to the side of the machine by the power cord. Mounted sideways.
If that doesn't cure your problem then most likely you have a electronics module problem. If you don't have a maintenance agreement, you can buy a printer cheaper then you can replace that module.

Passing PCL code from Word document

All PCL Command Sequences begin with the escape character (an ASCII control code with a hex value of 1Bh, 27 decimal) and end with the first upper case letter (or "=" note: "@" is considered an uppercase letter). In between there is either nothing (the PCL command is just the escape and a single upper case letter) or a set of one or two characters and often a numerical value. The single character commands are listed at the end of the "Decoded PCL commands" table below. The first non-uppercase character after the escape will be a symbol between "!" and "\" (most commonly one of %,&,( or *) which is called the "parameter." After the parameter there is normally a lower case letter called the "group." After this there may be a numeric value. If no value is present, the value is assumed to be zero. Finally the ending uppercase letter is called the "command." See Examples, Tutorials below for some samples of PCL commands and the Decoded commands List for detailed information. Note that these use the text "Ec" to mean the escape character. Since the escape character is not printable, it is very hard to convey in human readable text. Common abreviations are Esc, Ec, [], or <-. See the ASCII page for more information on the codes. That page also allows you to convert between hex, decimal or ASCII codes. The form below can be used to find english descriptions of PCL commands. Just paste the PCL into the box, if you use "Ec" or "esc" to mean the escape character, press the "Ec and esc

i hope this will work for you

All the Best.

"Initializing"

We had similar problem.  There is a tiny little black plastic arm where the paper comes out of the top.  If you're facing the screen, it will be towards the bottom left.  I couldn't find it on the parts list, but it's similar to part 118-9754-00 (Multi-purpose tray paper sensor actuator) from the parts list website:http://www.office.xerox.com/userdoc/P780/partslist/index.html.  .  We had broken that part when we moved and thought little of it until we got the hanging initialization.  Check to see that it moves freely and is not broken.  It was a pricey part for what it was, so you might look at a salvaged part.  Hope that's the problem as it is an easy repair!  If that doesn't do it, we had a door that didn't make good contact that also caused similar problem.  Good luck!
