CALLED LENOVO SAID I NEED A NEW DVD DRIVE . I NEED TO EJECT THE DISC , I EVEN INSERTED S PAPER CLIP AND NOTHING HAPPENED. DO YOU HAVE A SOLUTION
You did not stated which operating system you use, but if vista or win7, before you do anything drastic -
1. lmb (left mouse button) click "start" button (bottom left corner)
2. lmb "mycomputer" or whatever show your drivers
3. rmb (right mouse button) click your "cd-rom" or whatever name you give it
4. lmb "eject"
if it work - you are fine, drop in some music or video disc (which you know work on other computer) and try play again, hold your fingers on the door to determine if disc is spinning, or even put disc in specific way and then after closing the doors, check if light lights up and disc spin, open the door and check if disc is in same position, if so - disc do not spin... most probably will need replacement, or buy yourself usb dvd/bluray player as i done for my wife laptop, cost me $39.00 instead $150.00...
if eject command did not work then follow this procedure:
all cd/dvd/blueray drivers have mechanical safety latch, straighten up your paper clip, find little hole on the front door of the drive and insert perpendicularly the clip into it, press slightly till latch give and door opens few mm (sometime there is much more than just "slightly"), physically then extend the doors and retrieve your cd/dvd.
look closely as it may resemble light, and one of them will be diode but other will be hole. if memory serves on this model latch hole is about 1mm diameter and it is located above the manual eject button.
hope this will help you to solve your problem, do not forget to vote
The drive can be easily removed once removed you can then use the paper clip from the back and push the tray open
