Question about Toshiba 65H80 65" Rear Projection Television

Component Video Only

My 65H80TV will not allow any of the non component inputs to work.
The 2 components inputs work fine. When I try use any other other inputs the screen goes to wavey green or pink patterns and I cant read the input menu until I go back to a component input.

Once and a while the non component inputs will work fine, but very seldom.
It looks like some sort of sync problem.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

No, I disagree, sometimes it does work fine.
If it was short, it would never work.

  • draftpicks Nov 12, 2007

I definitely think this is an internal problem.

Not a lot of infor here without some trace testing and injecting a signal to find out where and how it's lost, but try this: Set it up on a non-component input and power the unit. Locate SR41 a small relay on the signal board and tap lightly around it with the back side of an insulated screw driver. Have someone watching the picture. If the

Just fixed this myself - made my head hurt to figure out. 1. Switch to a setting (say DVD). 2. Watch the AVR screen as it switches. You'll see the audio and video settings. For example, Audio = DVD, Video = DVD (Mine showed Audio = DVD, Video = DBS even though is was set correctly using the SETUP for audio and video)3. Under the round control knob on the left, push the (tiny) Video Select button. 4. Turn control know to choose the correct video source
Your system should work right. Mine did.

Check the input selector on the TV, if you have audio only then it is a cable problem,
that means that cables are not connected in the right way.

HDMI signal from DVD can not be down converted to analog component signal.
Connect your new DVD to a component input 1..4. Make sure that component input assigned to desired input (dvd/vcr/sat/) (setup - input setup - input - component assign - component x etc). Connect coax output of DVD to coax x input of the receiver and assign it (setup- input setup - "input" - digital assign ..). Probably you need to setup DVD output resolution to 720i or 720p in dvd setup menu.

X-box 360

You can get a video selector which allows you to connect a number of hd sources to one component selection. Many Tv's of this type only allow you to use component one in HD the other component inputs will only synch with a non HD source like a 480p or 480i output

Component Video inputs do not work

I started back in the day of tubes. A family would have one set and it would be a 19" black and white. There are different resolutions now. The components probably do work, but, they don't pass the 480i signal. The satelite converter's analog signal needs to be set to 480p and the DVD needs to be set to progressive if it does have that setting. If the DVD is not a progressive scan DVD, then, the only inputs that it will show on is the analog signal. Some of the dish converters have a switch on the face for changing the resolution. If yours doesn't then put it in an analog source and go to the menu and change it there. Then move it to the component input. Hope this helps.
