I have a LG fridge model GR-P247STSL and the ice maker is not working. The plastic arm that determines whether the ice bucket needs replenishing is not coming down. Do you know why?

*Check your warranty. You should call vendor for service.
*** The following is for information only.**
* I've had this problem a lot with my old fridge. Water line works but no ice.
* Check if the "Ice Full" leaver is in the down (no ice) position. Some ice makers will lock the leaver (a stiff wire) in the full position to manually shut off ice maker. Make sure it swings up and down when ice tray is empty.
* Sometimes when the tray is left full of ice for a week or more then the tube feeding water will freeze up. Defrosting the freezer on a regular basis will help. A quick fix is to pour warm water in the ice maker section (where the ice is formed). This will help melt the clogged pipe and also make some ice while your waiting. You may have to do this several times. But at least you have ice.
* This (freezing up) may also be caused by the freezer set too cold. The temperature dial should be in the middle. But turning it colder and colder over time will cause ice to build up and prevent foods from freezing properly (thus turning the dial down colder.) Once your maxed out on the dial. You will find the freezer gets warm and things get covered in frost crystals.
* Transfer food to another refrigerator and perform a complete defrost by leaving it unplugged and the door open (freezer section).
* Frequently check and dump water at bottom of fridge. Clean the dust on coils while down there.
* A fan blowing into the freezer section helps. (Do NOT use a heated fan as it will warp the plastic and overpressure the refrigerate.)
* Once defrosted (+4 hours). Power up the freezer and set the temperature dial to mid point and the freezer diverter to middle or normal setting. Don't put the food back in yet. Wait till the freezer gets down to normal freeze temp (about 0 to 10F)
* Move freezer back in place (if you moved it to access plug) then slowly put back the food. Try not to cram stuff in. Leave space for air to flow freely around items.
* Final, Call for service anyway and have them perform yearly service. Check your warranty.

My frig freezes top and also spoils coleslaw freezes water beer tried everything

First, call your fridge vendor for service.
*** the following is for information only. ***
* You need a full defrosting as there is ice in your cooling coils.
* Move food items to another refrigerator.
* Do a complete DEFROST of the box. (unplug it.) Expect it to take 4 or more hours. You must wait till all water stops dripping out of the fridge. Keep checking the lower defrost drip tray at bottom of fridge. Dump out water from tray as needed. DO NOT you a hair drier or any other heat source! The heat will warp the plastic. Use a small fan to gently blow into the freezer section.
* DO NOT use an ice pick or sharp object to remove ice! Just let everything melt. (The problem of ice is inside the coils)
* Plug in Fridge but don't put any food in. Set dial temperature to the Mid range setting. Set to freezer venting to normal. Set the refrigerator to mid range. Let it cool down to 0 - 10 degrees and start making ice (in ice maker) If it does not cool down to at least 10 degrees F then call for service. Suspect bad thermostat, Blocked condenser coils, Bad pump, etc. Qualified service tech required to repair.
* Cooling okay? Reload food but don't stuff it in. Leave space between the walls to allow cold air to flow around foods. It will take a day or so to cool down food properly. Note: I may take longer if this fridge is near a heat source like a Hot water heater, Oven, Range, Steam radiator, etc.
* If your still icing up in 2-3 weeks. Then check if the coils are icing up. Defrost is not working. This needs to be checked by a tech. Have him perform annual maintenance.
* Check door seals. Kids leaving the door open? High humidity? * Note how everyone uses the fridge; are they putting hot food in it? Open hot steaming food adds heat and humidity to fridge. Hot food with thaw out other frozen food and build up frost.
* Final, Have a Tech check your fridge. Have them perform maintenance and replace worn items as needed.

Freezer side don't freeze food hard. Ice is wet in

The problem can be temperature not set properly or any of fridge or freezer door not closed properly and cool air is getting leaked out. These are basic possibilities which first need to be checked. But if these possibilities are checked ok and still the problem is same, then its weak compressor issue. We accidently left the freezer door open during the entire night and now icemaker doesn't dispense on monogram refrigerator, even though ice maker makes ice.

you might want to turn the whole fridge off (remove the food to a safe place) and let the fridge defrost, wipe any water up and retry. If it is under warranty, call GE

Side by side refrigerator freezing up

inside the fridge there is a cold radiator which has filled with condensation or water from freezing it when say cleaned out the fridge this can be remedied by letting set for a few days outside in the sun so that water can evaporate properly or you can call a repair man and he can pull out frost radiator inside and defrost all the water out by dry wet vac and heater dryer

ice builds apon ice even a little bit can build up to a mountain same thing happended to my top end whirlpool i pulled the metal grate and defrosted this by pouring tap water over the ice which it went down the defrost tube outside water drain this helped greatly havent had trouble with ice since
