Washer Creates holes in clothes

Our washer has recently started creating holes in our clothes. It appears that they somehow get caught in the holes of the washer and torn up. We would appreciate any help! Thanks you in advance!

I contacted Sears several times about the same problem with our HE3 (bought in 2002). For about a year they pretended they had never heard of this problem. As I attempted to move up the supervisor chain, no one had an answer. On about my 3rd service call the tech told me it is an "over-loading" problem.

I'm sorry, but it's a high-capacity washer, and it wasn't overloaded. Sadly Sears is much more interested in blaming the customer than fixing anything. My HE3 continues to tear holes in clothes if I fill it even a teensy bit over half full.

I have had the same problem with holes in clothes. It started when the washer was about 3 to 4 years old. I have tried slower spin cycles and less clothes and still having the problem. Has anyone come up with a resolution? My husband & I are extremely disappointed that a $1600 washer is destroying all of our clothes.

All my shirts are getting holes in the front, a strange place to wear out. The washer and dryer are brand new.

We bought a Kenmore Elite HE3t at the end of 2002, and it's been sporadically tearing holes in our clothes for about 4 years. For example, a shirt will have a torn hole surrounded by severely twisted material. It looks like a small portion of the shirt was firmly pinched by something and held there while the rest of the shirt continued to tumble around and around.

This machine has ruined many clothes...about once every other month.

We are having the same "holes in clothes" problem but we assumed it's from the dryer. I'm wondering how you know for sure it's the washer. We haven't checked the clothes before putting them in the dryer but will start.

I have the same problem. I have lost several shirts, it appears that somehow part of the fabric gets caught in a stationary part of the washer, perhaps near the door, and then twists around until it tears. Why is this happening?

For the last four years I have been getting wholes in our clothes. Mostly in our children's T-Shirts. All of them are the same size. They are a cut not a pull or tear. Tonight I discovered it was the washing machine not the dryer, creating the holes. We purchased the Kenmore Elite HE3t in 2004 and tonight it cut a nice whole in the back of a once worn sweater. A nice hole in the center back! I am mad. I now know for sure it is the washing machine as this was a dip dry garment and didn't see the inside of the dryer. I am taking this to SEARS. This is terrible. We paid top dollar to keep our garments looking great and instead they are tearing them piece by piece. I have checked out the washing machine by hand very carefully a few times for a piece of stray metal that may be cutting the fabric. But nothing was found. I did notice the round holes inside the machine MATCH the size of the hole in the clothes, and that the holes are sharp enough to cut my nails. My educated guess is the fabric is being drawn into the wholes during the spin cycle and either catching on something or the shear weight on top of the garment is creating the hole.

It s frustating to get holes and My family has really lost more money what the actual value of this washer -dryer is. Icintacted Sears and they say we have not heard of this problem ever.

My He3T has just recently begun to tear holes in garments. It is about 5 years old. I haven't contacted Sears yet, but based on other posts I may out of luck.

I also have a front loading whirlpool duet, that eats my clothes all the time, I have had the boot on the front changed but it still eats my clothes. I don't know what to do anymore, the only thing I know is to buy a new washer when I don't really need one, we spent $700.00 on this washer thinking it would be just what we needed with 4 children, I don't ever overload my washer, but it is a large capicity washer. I wish I knew what else to do?

This problem has been driving me crazy for years and i finally figured out what is causing the holes in our clothes. If you look around the rubber (grey) ring inside washer you'll see at the top a white clip that holds a sprayer that sprays water, the clip has squared off edges that catch the clothes and then they tear as the drum spins. I took off the clip and used a file to file off edges and make them rounded. I haven't had a problem since. hope this helps

I am having the same problem, but only with my dress (work) shirts. Every few weeks another shirt comes out of the wash with holes on the elbows (clean slits that look like they were cut with a knife). I also have the Kenmore HE3. No other clothing is getting cut up.

Why does my washer leave black hole marks

Hey friend, thank you for your inquiry!

I understand that your Frigidaire washer is leaving black hole marks in clothing. This could be caused by internal issue with your tub or something could be caught along your tub causing the holes. You may want to look inside of your tub for any visible issues that could cause holes in your tub. You can also use a suck or pair of panty hoses to see if there are any issues with the tub. Place the sock or hose on your hand and rub it along the inside of your tub this will let you know if clothing is getting snagged on anything. If you continue to have issues with your washer I would recommend contacting a professional for proper diagnosis and repair. I hope this is helpful. -Matt

Washer motor humms and won't spin after filing up with water

remove the water pump from the motor but not from the hoses and start the washer. if it starts then you have a sock or something caught inside the pump holding the motor. remove the object or replace the pump if needed. if the motor wont start then unplug the washer, remove the motor and turn by hand. if it feels hard replace motor. if it moves then leave motor out and move the gear case where the motor connects by hand. if it wont move then 2 things may happen. 1)gear case lockup or a piece of clothing caught between the tubs.

if the washer agitates but wont spin with the humming sound then I say the later. a piece of clothing caught between the tubs.

The same thing happens to me. I think it actually comes from wearing a belt. I believe somehow the metal portion pinches and cuts the fabric either when you are sitting down or you lean up against something.

The washer seems to deposit stains on the clothes. No amount of stain remover seems to remove the stains.

just a though check inside the washer for things like paperclips, thumbtacks small pieces necklaces things like that get caught in those small drain holes and cause havoc

this error indicates water is not being detected coming into the machine. many things can cause this issue but start here

be sure that water valves are turned on. besure the filters inside the machine water valve(where hose hook to machine) are not clogged. also make sure drain hose is not installed into a drain pipe tightly. it should just rest inside a pipe or on the edge of a utility sink. when installed tightly into a pipe it creates a suction and syphons the water out of you machine and then your machine will never reach a "full" water level

My maytag neptune washer will not perform the final spin cycle. Therefore the clothes are still wet. Any solutions

Maytag washer parts, GE washer parts, and other brand names on the market are all designed to work interdependently with each other. This system starts to break down if even one part begins to encounter difficulty. Your washer's spin cycle flings a large amount of water out of the clothes, but if the water can't drain, the clothes will soak it all back up, defeating the purpose of the cycle. Excessively wet clothes after the spin cycle may not be caused by faulty washer parts, but rather a blocked drain is a very good bet. Check the drain line for a blockage and try again. If your hose is kinked or bent, this can also cause a drainage problem. The failure of one simple part creates a larger problem for all the washer parts. What can cause a blockage? A number of items; paper left in the pockets of your jeans, coins or other debris, even socks. Check your hoses, and make sure your laundry has empty pockets for future loads.

Clothes getting caught on inside of dryer

There are a couple of guide wheels in the back of the dryer. when they get worn out the tub will have excessive play and will trap clothes inside. Just remove the front cover loosen the belt and remove the drum. the worn wheels will be easy to spot. It is an easy and cheap fix.

Dark Spots on clothes

There may be some pieces of mat stuck between the inner and outer drums. The quickest way to remove this is to remove the drain hose that leads from the drum to the pump and feel around the bottom of the outer drum and remove any foreign objects that may be stuck in there.
