Re: Speakers

Your laptop may have a 4.1 speaker system. In this system you have 2 sets of stereo speakers/headphones + subwoofer. You can switch the speakers to both sets, or either set by software or control panel applet (Sound and Audio devices)

Re: Speakers

I have the same machine, exchanged it and still no sound. Manager at Comet pointed out that it has no amplifier in this model. Buy cheap speakers with amplifier and with mini jack plug and ... fantastic sound!
When I phoned Acer (ugh!) they did not know this!

I am having problems adjusting volume

What type of laptop HP , ASUS , COMPAQ , ACER ?..........
Up the Volume on My HP Laptop
Open the "Start" menu and click on the "Control Panel" icon.
Locate and open the icon that deals with sound.
Depending on your version of Windows, it will say either "Sounds and Audio Devices" or "Adjust System Volume."
Adjust the volume under the "Speakers" icon.
To do this, click on the slider bar and move it up on the slider.
If you need to decrease the volume, simply move the slider bar down.
Click on "OK" when finished and close the "Control Panel" window.
Click on the speaker icon in the bottom-right corner of the screen for a faster volume adjustment. Simply move the slider bar up to increase the volume and move it back down to decrease the volume.

Volume on an Acer Laptop
Acer laptops are typically sold with pre-installed Windows operating systems that offer sound-adjustment features for increasing the volume on the laptop's built-in stereo speakers.
These same functions can also be used in tandem with external speakers or headphones to increase the volume, as well as mute all sound on the laptop.
If the computer should output an unusually low volume, fixing the problem may be no more involved than sliding a control switch with the computer mouse. Click once on the speaker icon in the taskbar on the lower-right corner to open a rectangular window with a slide control.
Click and hold the left mouse button on the slide control to drag it upward, increasing the volume to the laptop's maximum setting.
Click the "Mixer" button below the slider control to open another window with volume controls for "Speakers" and "Applications," adjusting each slide control upward to increase the volume.
Be sure the speaker icon below each control is not accidentally muted.
Click once on each speaker icon to remove the red circle with a slash through it, which will restore audio.
Click the Microsoft flag or "Start" button in the lower-left corner if the shortcut speaker icon is missing from the taskbar.
Click "Control Panel" to select "Adjust Sounds" from the Hardware and Sounds category.

Volume stuck on mute for wireless speakers

After pairing it, have you tried to go to your sound settings in Control Panel and selecting the bluetooth device as your standard sound device?

Toshiba satellite m105 s3041 sound only works through headphones

Go to your "Start" menu at the bottom, left of your computer's desktop. Select "Control Panel" from the menus. Select "Sounds and Audio Devices" in the Control Panel.

Look at the settings under the "Volume" tab. Make sure the slider is not turned down. If it is all the way to the left, you need to move it more to the right. Make sure the "Mute" button is not checked.

  • Go to the "Audio" tab. There you will see "Audio Playback" with a drop-down box. Make sure it is set to your computer's sound card. For example, if your computer uses Sigma Tel Audio, make sure that is the name in the drop-down box. If it isn't, then change it to read your sound card's name. If you still do not hear sound, your speakers may be damaged.
  • 7 Test your speakers on another computer before you decide if they are broken. The input jack on your computer might be the problem.

  • God bless you

How to unmute the machine - no sound at all

Usually the sound on the OS is directly tied into the physical sound controls on the laptop.
Most new laptops now-a-days have keys called FUNCTION keys which are usually represented by light blue icons on other keys.

Look for the FUNCTION keys associated with the sound (think speakers, +/- etc)
You should find some keys somewhere (usually number keys) that have these blue icons,
you should also find 1 or 2 FN keys (usually near the left CTRL/ALT keys)

Hold down the FN key and press the MUTE key or the + key several times.

Still nothing? Try changing the volume in windows (double click the speaker icon in the system tray, no speaker icon? is it hidden? expand the system tray by press the little area inside of it.)

STILL nothing? Make sure your sound device is working properly.
Easiest way to check this is (VISTA/7) click START and type in Device Manager, (XP right-click MY COMPUTER, then PROPERTIES, then the HARDWARE tab then DEVICE MANAGER button)

Sound controllers has it's own section, if your sound card has an icon next to it try reinstalling the device drivers and rebooting.

STTTIIILLLL nothing? Speakers may be broke or even a BIOS setting (complicated)

The sound wont play through the speakers when I plug them in, instead the sound continues to play through the speakers.

Go into your control panel an make sure under your sound icon your speakers are set to default an not your on board speakers.

I am not getting any sound from the spekers, however I am getting sound through the earphone

Plugging-in the earphones physically DISABLES the built-in speakers. Unplug the earphone, to ACTIVATE the built-in speakers. Hopefully, the action of unplugging will move the MECHANICAL contacts -- if that mechanism is broken,
then it's like trying a broken light-switch -- you can flip the switch,
    but nothing happens.

No sound after trying to install external speakers

ok once you get to the sound icon in your control panel click and go into and you should see one thats says speakers and one that says digital output if it doesn't have a green check over the speakers then highlight it and set it as defult, or if there is nothing under the playback tab, then you will have to download the sound drivers again for windows do an ms update, or look up your sound device and look for the drivers for it over the net or use the program drivermax, but do an update from microsoft is the best bet and then go get ccleaner program from run it and clean things up do a defrag as well and go from there ok if need more help call me at 952-451-0518 ask for Travis A. any time 24/7 the fixist good luck and have a nice day

    Vostro 1500 speaker problem

Make sure you dont have the laptop muted. Seems simple, but ive caught myself with a muted computer before. First, check to see if your computer is muted, by looking at the little speaker icon by the clock. if there is no speaker there, go into control panel> sounds and audio devices, and check there. Lastly if you have no sound, check your media player, because the player itself can be muted/turned down as well. I hope that helps
