Problem for Nikon D50 Digital Camera with 18-55mm Lens

Auto focus doesn't auto focus

I have a Nikon D50. In the auto mode when I go to take a picture the auto focus doesn't kick in and I can't get the button to go down all the way (I know not very technical terms) Some times it works and sometimes it doesn't. Any clues?

So you having problem with AF problem?

Try this (mind your camera to protect it from dust OR another small parts to get in while you opening):
1. Re-connect the lens and the camera.
2. Make sure the connectors is clean.
3. Connect it together again.
