Question about Denon AVR-2805 Receiver

2 Answers

No output After 3 years of heavy usage, my AVR 2805 now gives only intermittent audio output.  For the past several days, whenever I turn it on, it will  not output any audio for TV, DVD, VCR or even the tuner.  I've checked all the settings and the input is set to automatic.  If I turn the receiver on and off several times, sometimes the audio comes back.  If it does come back on, whenever I turn it off, the next time I go turn it on, there's no audio.   I am using optical cables for the DVD and the satellite TV.  Any suggestions?

I have this same problem, I took it to SCAN Audio Services in Van Nuys, CA a Denon approved customer care center on Feb 12th 2008. Be warned this place is a joke, they could not figure out the problem nor wanted to trouble shoot according to Denon. After raising hell with owner and Denon directly now my unit is shipped to NJ and still no answer from anyone.
Denon / Marantz some customer service they got, every time you call your on hold for at least 45min to an hour and then the reps are useless, I will NEVER buy another product form Marantz oe Denon!!! 6 weeks and still no results...

  • junkemails00 Oct 14, 2008

    Yep same problem.
    Got it in late 2004.
Avg use is 2 hours a day.
I don't turn up the volume like mad, around -25 db.

Does anybody have any suggestion on what to do? Or how to salvage it?

    Thanks,
    Hans

Same problem. I paid WAY too much money for this for it to go out in 3 years.

Same thing and bought it in July of 2004!!! I used on average 2-3 times per week for about 2 hrs. What a P.O.S.

I hardly used this receiver, it might have had about 60 hours of total use in the past 3 years. One day I was listening to the radio and when I turned it back on the next day I had no sound. From the few comments on this site it looks like I now have a very expensive paperweight. If anyone has a solution to this issue I would appreciate hearing about it.

I've got the same problem. Two year old reciever and no output. United Radio says Digital PC Board is bad but Denon doesn't make it anymore! Unbelievable!! Did anyone ever figure this out?

Good luck!

You have a problem with your DSP circuit. Unless you are good at reading schematics and using DVM's and soldering, then you need to take it to a servicer.

My remote of AVR 2805 (RC-974) is lost . After check of Dealer in thailand they told me RC-974 discontinue .Please suggest the other model of remote can use with AV-2805 . I think RC-1030 can use with AVR...

..or you could buy a universal remote, like Logitech Harmony xx. Denon also makes a universal remote, but it is pretty expensive and not as easy to program as the Harmony.

PC Sound Card Connection to Denon AVR-2805 or Samsung 40B610

  • Should I be connecting my pc sound card directly to the receiver or to the tv then to my receiver to get the best sound output? To your reciver
  • When I get the HD Digital Tuner, does that make any difference for the pc connection?
  • Try to connect everything that is sound onto your reciver then
  • connect all your video to your your TV for now
  • When you get your digital tuner connect all your inputs for video to(in order >reciever>HD Tuner>TV
  • Basicly everything goes to your tuner first.

My Denon AVR 2805,has a problem. In a few seconds after switching on, it automatically turns itself off. What is the cause of this problem? How can I fix it?

This unit is in what is termed :protect mode". This means that one or more of the amplifier channels has a rpoblem that was detected by the protection circuit inside and the unit has been shutdown to prevent further damage. This is often shorted output transistors or a defective amp pac for the surround channels. Expect a parts cost in the $50 range for this repair.

My denon reciever display wont't work

I read something the other day in the user manual about re-setting the microprocessors if the display doesn't display properly. Turn the amp off.  Hold down the input mode & analog buttons while turning power on. The whole display should flash on & off at 1 sec intervals, then release the two buttons. This resets the microprocessors & supposedly fixes display problems.

Intermittent audio output

It's quite possible one of the relays is failing that is part of the switch between audio output choices.  Do you notice any output difference between a certain output (i.e. dvd, tape etc)or is that point arbitrary?
