A Hard Reset will remove all data and reload the Operating System clean and with no password. The Reset is done with the tablet turned off, so you don't need a password to do it.
Turn off the device. Press and hold the Volume Up and Power keys. When the Alcatel logo displays, release both keys. Use the Volume Up/Down keys to navigate to wipe data/factory reset.

to reset the tablet there is two ways in the android settings > security > factory reset or from the bootloader (press and hold the power and volume up (or down or in samsung devices power + home + volume up) and pick factory reset/wipe data and it will take some time resetting once done use the volume keys to select reboot and press the power key
Look for a small pin hole in case, usually says reset next to it. Use a paper clip in the hole to press reset button. Power on while momentarily holding down reset button with clip. Then power on again, should be back to factory settings. If there's no pin hole the you hold down on off the f keys while powering up. Try googling tablet name & model factory reset.
There is a setting usually under "settings", "security" or maybe "about". Select "Factory data reset". Another alternative is most Android tablets can be reset by pressing the power until "OFF" then hold the "down" volume key and press the power until the menu comes up for resetting the tablet.
Before you try a reset continue submitting passwords until the unit asks for your google account sign in. If you have a google account go ahead and sign in. If you don't have a google account type null for the user name and four zeros, ie, 0000 for the password.
Try this before you do a factory reset by loading the firmware again.
If you set a pass code (or pattern) that you cannot remember, please enter the wrong password (10-20 times) until you are prompted to sign in via your google account. Please note, this will only work if you have already setup your google account on the tablet. If you have not set up a Google (or Gmail) account on the tablet, you will have to perform a firmware install, which will revert the tablet back to factory settings.
Most tablets available nowadays are Android-based ones. And most of them can be "factory reset" to leave them as brand new.
First, understand that if you continue, all the information you already added to your tablet will be erased. If you have any info you need to retrieve, please, do not go on and try something different, OK?
All right... Let's go on... The best way to know how to factory reset (or "hard reset", as it is also called) your device is to check in the Internet if there is already a description of the whole process. Assuming that you have a Samsung Galaxy Note 8 tablet, search in Google for "how to factory reset a Samsung Galaxy Note 8 tablet?" Follow the instructions and you will have your tablet running as if it had just been taken out of its box!
If you cannot find the instructions for your specific device, you could, then, try to check if it can enter recovery mode. First, completely switch off your tablet. Then, press at the same time and maintain pressed the "Power" button and the "Volume Up" button and wait for the device to power on, when you can release the keys. An "Android System Recovery" page should appear. If that is the case, you can navigate through the options using "Volume Up" and "Volume Down" keys. Go to the "wipe data/factory reset" option and activate it, pressing the "Power" button. Your tablet should reset (it will take a while).
If you didn't enter the reset page with those keys, repeat the process, this time pressing "Power" and "Volume Down" keys (different tablets have different combinations of keys to enter recovery mode.)
