try to check your phone profile settings,it maybe set to offline mode, if it is set to offline, select a different phone profile mode from the list of the options.

try also cleaning the contacts of your sim card card and try again. sometimes, dirt or dust can be a reason for your sim not to be recognized by your phone.

If it's only the sim card, check with your wireless provider, it could a conflict between the phones technology and the band that your service provider use.
