you most probably need to reset scale to factory settings, as you did not give what model and manufacturer, therefore you need to find your manual or google on line howto reset your scale
Sounds like reset access points. Try pressing something in the hole gently to see if you can hear it clicking a switch...if it does the hold the button in and turn th scales on or turn the scales on and the press the reset. Good luck
just fixed this problem myself. so first i took out the battery then put it back in didn't wait a specific amount of time or anything. i just popped it out blew the inside then put the battery back in. next i switched it to ST from LB stepped on it stepped off it then stepped on it again and it reset. then i put it back to LB and voila it worked again!
See if this helps. Step on gently and stand very still. Step off and press/tap with your foot the center of the scale to reset to 0.0 and step up again and be very still while it reads your weight. Mine gave a little different weight but after I tried again I had two readings the same and the readings were what I expected. So if in doubt I read twice. If I am very still when I step up mine give same reading. I hope there is nothing wrong with your new scales. Happy weighing.
mcdevito75 here, You can try to disconnect the battery, then step on the scale then step off, Now re-install the battery and see how it works. If same contact scale manufacturer.
Basically, the frisbee comment is on the mark. I called Taylor. a nice person walked me through a calibration exercise: take batteries out; stand on scale for 7 sec.; get off; put batteries back in (assuming they are still good); step on scale and if it reads ---- step off again, then back on to weigh yourself. My scale's display was blank, not -----, so they said calibration was unsuccessful & so I mailed it back to the NM address on the bottom. It just fits w/ padding diagonally in a USPS flat rate box. Waiting to see if they replace it (lifetime warranty).
The scale may have instructions on the bottom of the scale. (Example for the Tanita: The Ultimate Scale w/ the body fat analysis). The instructions on the back state the following steps: Step 1: press both the "Set" and the triangle buttons. Step 2: press the "triangle" button until you select the appropriate weight measurement (a) kilogram, (b) stone lbs or (c) lbs. Step 3: press the set button.
Press the scale once with your foot. All screen options should display to initialize and then go to 0.0. Now step on the scale. It should read out your correct weight. If not, first remove and replace the battery for reset. If still not, replace the battery. If still not it's ready for return or replacement. Hope it works! Dave - CA
